Meet Tarik Khribech of Chore Relief

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarik Khribech.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
2015 Labor Day weekend, my sink got clogged, and I needed a plumber. It was 10 am; I called at least 20 finally got one person to agree to come at 5 pm.

Couple hours later he called to cancel, so I have to go back online and start all over. After a while, I found someone else that was going to come by after he finishes work at 8 pm. I explained the issue, and he seemed to figure out the problem without even taking a look at the sink.

He showed up at 8 pm, took him to 5-10min and the problem was solved. At least I thought I was settled until he handed me a $250 bill. There goes my weekend, now been downgraded to a home meal and working sink instead of going out and have fun.

This experience got me thinking, wouldn’t be great if there was a solution out there for me to post a job, name the price and get someone to come on my schedule? And that’s when chore relief came to life.

Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a new business is never a smooth road. At first, I reached out to few friends and started writing the first line of code, but that didn’t work out well. So I went online and spent weeks interviewing development agencies overseas as its lot cheaper than hiring someone local. I have made few mistakes that cost me time and money but learn a lot from it. Fast forward couple months later I met someone that had no star reviews and leaped fight on him. I have to say it was something no one will do, and that building this revolutionary idea and hire someone with no reviews when they are other with 500-1000 positive reviews.

I needed someone green, someone that can think differently and see the vision I have in my head. The one with 1000 reviews probably was going to try to use existent model and just have ChoreRelief as a brand. I didn’t want to be in this business to be another me too guy. I think different, and I wanted to solve a big problem for both consumers and the workers. It was hard to even find employees that believed in the mission, I didn’t want to hire someone that his only motivation is payday, I needed someone that want to change the way we live.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Chore Relief – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Imagine a world where anyone can afford to hire help to do things around the house like cleaning, landscaping or handyman … just to name few, regardless of their income?

Now, I also want to you to imagine the people that do the work have the opportunity to thrive either start or grow their business and get connected to real jobs, not leads, and get start of the art dashboard and app that allow them to run and grow their business from a mobile or computer, all these techs come with no barriers to entry.

So our model allows customers to name their price, and the app does the vetting on their behalf and finds them perfect worker local to their area that can do their chore. In under 30 seconds, customers can have their job in front of thousands of local workers at the same time, the first one that accepts it gets the job.

For workers, the app works as their virtual assistant, they can chat or call customer right from the app once they accept the job. The app gives the customer exact arrival time once a provider is on his way, and once the job is finished to the customer satisfaction, the customer pays from the app using a credit card on file and money gets deposited on the worker bank account within 48 business hours.

Because we are in the service business, we do mentor and education session with our workers to help them scale and grow their business. At the end of the day, when they make money we make money. So, we empower them and get them into an ecosystem that not get them real jobs but also there help them scale their operation as they grow.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
My first tradeshow for ChoreRelief before even we launched was in LA, and we had great feedback, in fact, we meet some potential investors that are keeping an eye on our progress and once we get to the level of companies they usually invest in we will be talking to them.

What we don’t like the least, not much actually. All the giant corporations are in California, and we see ourselves could have a lot of partnership with them and if those require us to move to California, LA we might just do that. Who doesn’t LOVE the sun? 😉
