Meet Swooli of LA – BOS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Swooli.

Hi Swooli, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story starts off with Haitian immigrant parents getting hip. My dad being a disc jockey for a Haitian radio station who doubled as a magic 106.7 parent on the mornings to school. My mom used to get all types of cd’s sent to the house from; Sisquo, Backstreet Boys , Carlos Santana to Eminem, 50 Cent, Jay Z, Outkast.

It later was propelled by my older brother who would made me rap battle my sister when we were super. young. Could’ve been his selfish entertainment or merely a distraction from realizing big bro was in charge when we were home alone at a young age.

Since then its evolved into open mics which turned into taking unreleased music around the world. Iceland, Budapest, Canada, Bristol UK, London, Amsterdam, New York Fashion Week. Throwing a festival in Iceland with the homies with folks from the island as well as UK, BOS, NYC, Germany,

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road at all but quite literally no road in life is perfect. Thats the shit you’re really going to remember at the end of this. Like bro remember the journey? The Lessons. Everything. The things that broke your heart. The things that made it strong. The moment you decide to say fuck how i look fuck the judgement, this is unapologetically me, this is my heart, this is what it wants. All the little moments. Music vs music business. There are going to be people that try to fuck you over. There’s so much. Even the artistic battle with Perfectionism. Let go you know? i love creating but cant control how things get received by the world. Hell even the financial aspect of when first starting out all the investments. There’s no guarantee any of it pays off

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating genre blending music and building a creative identity that goes beyond sound. My music draws from hip hop, alternative sounds, Afrobeats, zouk and other global influences. I like experimenting with different styles and finding ways to bring them together to create something that feels authentic to me. I want my music to connect with people in different environments, whether they’re listening on their own or experiencing it in a live setting.

As a Haitian artist, I bring my cultural background and personal experiences into my creative expression. I’m interested in finding different ways to connect music with other aspects of culture, from food and storytelling to fashion and design. I like exploring unconventional ideas and finding ways to express my perspective while creating work that feels original and meaningful.

Beyond music, I specialize in creative direction and building worlds through visuals, fashion and experiences. I’m inspired by artists who create entire worlds around their work, and I want to bring that same level of imagination to my own brand. Whether I’m creating one of one merchandise, developing visual concepts or organizing cultural experiences like North Signal Festival in Iceland, my goal is to bring different creative disciplines together to build something unique. Ultimately, I see Swooli as more than music. Swooli represents a vessel/world for creative expression that connects music, culture, design and experiences.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
