Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunshine RA.
Hi Sunshine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
A small-town girl moving to a big city, you wouldn’t believe there was t time I was shy and quiet. As my first big venture away from home after obtaining my Bachelors in healthcare-related field, I came to California with goals. To learn more about the educational systems placed in California for the differently abled population and to become a model.
I was in talks with an agency and a manager at the time, and with a little over 15k saved, I just left. A huge shift in everything, I quickly learned LA is a different type of beast. Working at a facility and learning the ropes, I was able to find some successes on my own and after winning S1 Thickhouse, it was that moment where I knew my heart was in this field also. Finally, with the pandemic coming to an end, I look forward to what I can do, learn, and accomplish in California with the freedom of going outside. I realize most people only know me from social media, and now I intend to show everyone what my light looks like. I enjoy being able to be a voice for others and a role model, and truthfully this is just the beginning.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is any road smooth, I feel like we all deal with struggles. I came from humble beginnings, and telling my parents I no longer wanted to be a doctor to pursue entertainment pursuits was hard. I’ve survived abuse, rape, scrutiny, among other things, and I just want to tell anyone out there to never give up. Find someone who you look up to, do the inner work, and let the past go. It has been my only silver lining and continues to push me forward.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
On one end, I do work in the healthcare/educational system that I do believe are the same and should be, and working for myself has been a journey on its own. These days I am partnering with other like-minded individuals looking to impact curriculum and assist on shaping paths from birth to death through technology and individualized plans. Entertainment has become my release, my fun, my vulnerability. I am most known for modeling, though if you haven’t, you will see me acting, doing music, and other ventures behind the camera. I am most proud of my results with my clients and honestly making it. I believe it is one thing to do what you love and another to become successful in it. What that looks like varies by person, and what sets me apart is my story, my path, and where I am going. Being Sunshine has a lot to do with energy, healing, and helping others in all avenues of my life.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was quiet, shy, and a preacher’s kid. I was always good at school and athletic, but otherwise getting me to speak was a fight. As I got older, and through my experiences, I was a loner and was interested in Egypt, healthcare, and shows like ANTM and designer shows. My passions were always the same, the way they are expressed is what has changed. One day, I just decided to stop caring about what others think and love myself. We are all here with given gifts and we all go through life which can be hard. Find out what those gifts and passions are and just go for it. There is a way to do it and get paid for it.
