Meet Steven Saturn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Saturn.

Hi Steven, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always felt the urge to create beautiful things, whether it was music, art, woodworking, or food. After graduation, I took every opportunity to use my passions as a career, but some activities felt better left as personal hobbies. I traveled with my paintings, going to festivals and live painting at music venues. I also worked in kitchens expressing my creativity and passion for food as a sous chef. Music was always fun, but I found that as far as hourly work goes, tattooing was the highest-paid gig I ever had. Now I work as a tattoo artist, and I have become addicted to working on skin as a medium. The intricacies of creating artwork that is personal and specific to the body has become a passion that I would gladly remain a slave to for as long as my back holds up!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle I have had is finding a career that is something I both love doing (without sacrificing my art) and also pays the bills. I tried multiple career paths which have had individual learning moments, but life isn’t an adventure until something goes wrong. Then you have a battle, a puzzle, an obstacle to defeat which becomes a triumphant tale later. The toughest obstacle is your own attitude, and once you start talking to yourself in a positive way, then the rest is simple.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a tattoo artist, and I specialize in realism and portraits. What sets me apart from other artists is that I have a BFA in fine art, my background is classical arts and oil painting. I’m most known for my realistic full-color work and creating full sleeves.

What are your plans for the future?
I am constantly pushing myself as an artist, but my goal is to one day own a restaurant next to a tattoo shop!

Pricing:

  • Half-day $750
  • Full day $1200
  • Starting price for half sleeve: 3000
  • Starting price for full sleeve: 5000
