Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonya Adams.
Celebrating A Vision is an Award-winning Non-profit organization that provides amazing acts of kindness for cancer survivors & foster children. Founder Sonya Adams decided in 2013 that she would offer services to women, men and children survivors. Her 1st random act was to a male prostate survivor, A $5.00 Starbucks gift card. Fast forward to 2020. We are proud to announce that the experiences have gotten bigger and better… We now deliver Helicopter excursions, Cruises, Hot air balloon rides, Trips to Malibu Winery, Racing in exotic cars. Mobile massages, wig services, Etc. ALL AT NO COST! In order to be considered. Survivors have to write a brief bio about their battle with cancer, Sonya is a Philanthropic Powerhouse. She added another program. BE KIND TO A FOSTER CHILD PROJECT! “CAV” has won several awards for her work in the community… The organization celebrates survivors having a 2nd chance at life. We measure success by the lives we change…
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. We have struggled with visibility and funding. Oftentimes smaller organizations that are in the trenches doing the work don’t get the recognition or resources needed to continue the works in the community. Most of the time the public likes to donate to what’s familiar., so we get lost in the shuffle.
Please tell us about Celebrating A Vision.
We have a very unique organization in the way that we have one a Non-profit but with two major causes, “CAV” not only celebrates and honors cancer survivors, but we also have launched our BE KIND TO A FOSTER CHILD PROJECT!
We provide programs for foster kids in LA County. Who are about to age out of the system, such as Firefighter, Aeronautics, Film academy, Marine Biology, Nutrition cultural arts, Etc. Founder /Sonya Adams said it’s important to operate in excellence. and to be consistent.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Possibly, I would have sought out professionals who have marketing skills or maybe an expert in the non-profit field, But for the most part, The lesson is in the loss, I’ve had many losses and many triumphs. I wouldn’t trade any of my experiences.
