Meet Alicia Arciniega of Skin Utopia by Alicia in Brea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Arciniega.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alicia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began my business in 2013 following a career in law enforcement. Never did I imagine working in this field; however, while I was nursing a work injury, the thought of skincare school popped into my mind. From that day forward, I fell in love with the business and my passion grew quickly for skincare and lashes.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely was not a smooth transition, as I was embarking on a career that lacked the security if a government job. The biweekly paychecks, health insurance etc, were no longer afforded to me; however, I took a huge leap of faith and worked hard to overcome obstacles and naysayers. It took a few years but it was worth every struggle I encountered.

Please tell us about Skin Utopia by Alicia.
I provide skincare treatments and eyelash services for ladies within my home. I worked in spas and salons; however, it was always lacking the calmness and quiet energy that I had wanted. My clients love the individual attention they receive and they don’t need to deal with waiting in a busy salon to be seen. I do not schedule anyone immediately following another so there is never anyone waiting. I specialize in skincare treatments from facials to microdermabrasion and in regards to lashes, my specialty is the Lash Lift, which has come increasingly popular within the last several months. I also offer chemical peels, body treatments, airbrush tanning and eyelash extensions. I believe I am different from other companies, as I am not a franchise. My mission is not to get people in and out quickly. I believe in service with integrity. I am honest about what can be accomplished and I present each person with a kind and calming environment.

Customer service and honest communication are key. I have learned a lot about people through my years as a law enforcement officer and I know what type of service I expect when I enter a business. A great smile and a caring heart can really go a long way.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, I think every battle I faced prepared me and help mold me into the character I am today. So with that being said, I am thankful for all that I went through because it taught me so much. I do believe that having a mentor would have definitely helped though. That is extremely important.
