Meet Simone Jackson of The Fab Grad in South Central

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Jackson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Simone. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
A year after college graduation, I found myself completely overwhelmed by all things “post-grad life”. I was in grad school but not sure if I was following the right career path, I wanted to start a side hustle but didn’t know where to start, I was comparing myself to others around me, and most importantly, I wished someone would have told me the truth about life after college! Not seeing the advice I was looking for on the internet, I decided to create my own platform, The Fab Grad, a resource for young professionals and recent college grads.

Since creating The Fab Grad in 2017, I’m excited to see all the amazing things it has blossomed into! Through The Fab Grad, I provide career services, host events like my Vision Board Party and Build Your Brand Brunch, give speaking engagements, and recently started an online/off-line community of ambitious women of color called The Fab Collective!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road! However, it has been so much fun! It is so easy to get caught up in the pressure of trying to build a multi-figure business or a highly-engaged following on Instagram! After my first year of blogging, I decided to take the pressure off myself and remember my “why”. If one person finds my blog helpful then I’m doing my job! Some of the struggles I had and still have today are trying to stay consistent, trying to build a following, and trying to keep things simple (i.e., not running with every single idea I have in my head)! If I can get those three things under control, I (think) I’ll feel less stressed!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is a resource for young professionals and recent college grads. I provide career services because I genuinely love helping others get the job they’ve always wanted! However, if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see I take more of a “lifestyle blogger” approach and show more of my daily life including travel, friends, family, and of course.. brunch! Most know me for my inspirational car chats on Instagram as I share my thoughts on being a millennial and young professional; however, I have also gotten a lot of buzz for my events as well!

I think I’m most proud of the community I’ve built through The Fab Grad. It’s not just about me, it’s about helping others get to the next level, whether it’s through a connection they made at one of my events or an inspirational rant they heard on my stories. Honestly, this is what sets me apart. I’m building my brand from my heart! Talking about real things that happen to twenty-somethings like me!

What were you like growing up?
I was just how I am now! Full of personality, never afraid to talk, and always laughing with my friends! It’s interesting because some of the things I wanted to be in high school (like a talk show host or a “Youtuber”) are slowly starting to manifest into my life now. The #1 comment I get in my DM’s is I should start a talk show and The Fab Grad has allowed me to start my own Youtube channel and more! One final thing has also remained the same, my love for higher education! I was obsessed with college campuses all my life because I felt like they were little cities each with their own vibe, so it’s no surprise that I work in higher education now!
