Meet Simon Thirlaway of Stage TH!S

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simon Thirlaway.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Simon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started working in the film industry in London and relocated to Los Angeles in 2000. Aware and enticed by the optimistic American outlook on life and business, I knew that moving state-side would present many more opportunities and reflecting back at the last 17 years, I believe I made the right move.

I arrived in L.A. with a suitcase and some bare whit, I began to build my career and several companies that rent equipment and studio space in the motion picture and event industry. While doing this I was growing my cinematographer career shooting projects for A-list celebrities and high-end products like Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Google, Porsche and Fed Ex to name a few.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a roller coaster in many ways, but I kind of like the ups and downs life presents us with, I appreciate the magic times and hustle through the hard times. It defines and makes us who we are. Finding the right team is essential!!! I’ve been blessed with great business partners that complete the whole picture. We have learned the hard way in many ways with some big financial setbacks but you just gotta get back up and put it down to the cost of doing business. Now, we’re in a good place and I’ve never slept so well but always ready for the next bump in the road. Finally having quality time to focus on the things that really make me happy and not all work work work.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Stage TH!S. Tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As I mentioned, I am a cinematographer-director-entrepreneur who owns several companies that provide technical equipment and studio space to the motion picture industry. We’re able to offer great all-in-one package deals that a lot of studios aren’t able to do. I also have an event company that is cultivating and producing a music festival on Catalina Island by far the most frustrating and difficult project yet, but I also feel it will be the best. No pain no gain.

Being the best father I can be and setting up a good work ethic and prosperous future for my children is my drive. I’m focused on doing creative projects that fulfill me and make me proud to have been a part of.
