Meet Shiva Shamooil of Di Stefano Italy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shiva Shamooil.

Hi Shiva, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After the revolution of Iran in 1978, my family moved to Milano, Italy, the capital of fashion. After studying in high school and college and working there for a few years, I decided to move to Los Angeles. Soon after that, the rest of my family decided to join me.

My brothers Shawn and Stefano, started our company, Italian Fashion Group dba Di Stefano Italy and I decided to join them. Since 1998, thanks to our unity, believing in American dream, and great workmanship of our partners in Italy for our Ready and Custom Made lines, we have been growing day by day and enjoying our achievements as well as relationships with our clients.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
About 20 years ago 90% of the productions in menswear went to China because of cheap labor. In the beginning we lost some clients as we refused to take our productions anywhere other than Italy because we knew that no one could make great quality suits like Italians.

We later gained back some of our lost clients because they weren’t happy with Chinese products even though those cost less.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Di Stefano Italy ?
We are a family owned business and are proud of our Made in Italy Ready & Custom Made clothing. We do a lot of private labeling for retail stores, and also work with the Entertainment and Hospitality industries.

In the entertainment industry we work with many well known costume designers such as Debra McGuire, Jennifer Bryan, and Dana Pink for Tv series and Motion pictures. Some of our productions have been Focus, Concussion, Lucifer, Better Call Saul, and The Spy.

Other than Contemporary custom made, we also do Period custom made. Concussion with Will Smith and The Spy on Netflix with Sacha Baron Cohen are among our Period productions.

In the hospitality industry we design and provide high end uniforms and clothing for prestigious hotels like The Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, The Bel Air Hotel, The Cooper in S. Carolina, and Ritz Carlton.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I love my work and I’m grateful for every day that I come to our showroom. My clients are best therapy for me.
