Meet Senna De La Cruz of Colliers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Senna De La Cruz.

Hi Senna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
First and foremost, I’d like to thank VoyageLA for this opportunity. If I had to describe myself simply, I would say that above all else, I am a student of life. That’s who I am, and once you strip away all the layers, I believe that’s who you are too. I grew up in Torrance/Redondo Beach (very lucky) and am the eldest of four brothers who are my best friends. I wasn’t the best in school but I also was not a complete rebel. I figured out early on that Cs get degrees! I tended to try every sport and simply loved movement and being active. I eventually moved on to the University of Arizona and graduated in 4 years. I’ve not been back since. My father always mentioned that real estate was a great way to build wealth when I was younger but no one in my family had ever been in real estate except for my aunt. She had skillfully teamed up with a developer and started to do extremely well for herself. That caused me to do research and seek out internships. I later on was connected with the Managing Director from Colliers and solidified a job during my senior year in college subject to passing my real estate exam. After I passed, I jumped into the brokerage world as a broker and have not looked back since. It’s been an amazing ride with twists and turns, ups and downs, but nonetheless grateful to be living the dream. It suits my competitive nature that I have with myself. Every day is different and keeps me on my toes so it allows me to tap in to that student energy that I mentioned earlier. In essence, I assist warehouse owners and users buy, sell, and lease warehouses at their target pricing through a streamlined process that is justifiable, quantifiable and repeatable. My mantra is that I am always hunting for treasure. Treasure in my work, my day to day interactions, my relationships, my fitness and any new hobby I pick up. I look to maximize my experience and those who are involved.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. When I was 16 my parents got divorced and as the older brother at that age, you know exactly what is going on. However, it selfishly yielded a ton of blessings.

On the business side I have seen how greed and short-sidedness can ruin relationships and business strategies.

Recently, i dislocated my left shoulder. Tore my labrum and part of my bicep in the process which has been a big adjustment from a health and fitness perspective.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a national industrial real estate broker based in LA. As mentioned earlier, I essence, I assist warehouse owners and users buy, sell, and lease warehouses at their target pricing through a streamlined process that is justifiable, quantifiable and repeatable. I love what I do. My perspective is that before I come in contact with a client, I never had a shot at their business. Now that we are in contact, I am grateful for the opportunity and challenge. Their success equals my success. If they don’t succeed, I could get fired or they leave unhappy which means I truly did not add value or solve their problem. I don’t avoid tough conversations and I have them the way I would want them to be conducted if I was in their shoes, with grace.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I meditate every single morning almost without fail. It’s like going to the gym for me.

I am never competing against other people, I am only competing against myself.

I believe men and women are stronger together instead of men VS women, contrary to what is being purported through society today.

I think people who can dance or train mixed martial arts are badass.
