Meet Sean Gordon of Luxury Imagery in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Gordon.

Sean, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ever since I was a kid, I was enamored with art, detail, and presentation. Photography was something I always played with, even back in the film days. Oh, I’m so glad that’s a thing of the past! No more dropping off film to get developed with fingers crossed that the shots turned out somewhat decent.

I grew up in San Antonio Texas and finally made my way to LA after graduating high school and asking myself “what now?” I started working as a model, and worked up the nerve to give acting a shot. I did plenty of bit roles, extra work, and most notable, I was a lead in the Goo Goo Dolls “Here is Gone” music video. Although being in front of the camera was very fulfilling and exciting, it was all the “other stuff” that fascinated me most. Where grips would place lights, and why. What type of moves the cameras would do, pretty much the whole process of production.

I then ventured into composing music for commercials and even found my way into running a post-production house and directing a few commercial spots myself. Life was good, and I was wearing so many hats, something I absolutely love to do!

Then in 2013, I was hit by a massive panic attack! I had no knowledge of this sort of thing, so I thought I was having a heart attack and about to die. No joke, that’s what it actually felt like. Face and hands went cold and numb! I had to fight to stay conscious! My body was shaking and tingling. It felt like my heart was involved somehow, so I was rushed to the E.R. This is when I was introduced to my new friend, ANXIETY!

For the next nine months I couldn’t work, drive, or leave the house. I had a constant crippling fear hanging over me that had no reason being there. It was just sheer terror for no reason pretty much all day. I couldn’t sleep because every night I would wake up in a sort of “terror sweat” and feeling like I almost died from not breathing. Times were rough, and I was forced to face myself and ask the real questions; what am I doing?
What do I want out of life? What makes me happy?

Finally a year later I was ready to start working again and a realtor from the Hollywood Hills area, Charles Malki, sent me an email. He found my website online and needed a 3D render of a house that was being renovated. I showed up and had no idea how I was going to do the job but I was determined to deliver. After I finished, he loved what I did with the place and started booking me for photoshoots for all his listings in the Hollywood Hills.

This new occupation proved to be just what I needed! Something low stress, involves my art, and gets me out of the house and into cool places. After that everything just avalanched! One referral led to the next, and before I knew it I was shooting celebrity homes and some of the biggest and coolest properties in LA.

After getting more business than I could sanely handle, I began training and employing a select group of shooters to help with the bulk of things. My company, Luxury Imagery, focuses on quality rather than quantity. We only take on what we can handle without burning out. It is very important to me to stay artistic and inspired, so I keep a very short list of clients who share the same sensibilities, being THE BEST!

Today we cover everything from Dana Point to Malibu. If you would like to talk about getting shots done just get in touch and tell me a little about yourself. I love meeting new agents and working with like-minded go getters!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Strangely, I was lucky to have started at the top. I never had to climb any ladder. Because I was so well-prepared when the opportunity came my way, I was able to step right into my new career. They say Luck is where preparation meets opportunity, and I absolutely believe that!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Luxury Imagery – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in luxury real estate photography from Dana Point to Malibu, and everywhere in between. The images we capture and deliver are designed to be a slightly heightened version of the property. Images that pop of the page! With so many homes for sale, we have honed a specialized “look” that just makes the viewer feel something when they see a house that we shot. This emotional connection is very important, as most human decisions are based in emotion. We bring art and emotion to the business of sales and real estate.

What sets us apart from everyone is our professionalism, reliability, and integrity. When we agree to something, we deliver, and consistently! We keep low volume to ensure quality for our short list of quality clients.

We are most proud of our clientele. Getting to work with heavy hitters is a very fulfilling reflection of hard work paying off.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are currently expanding our OC clientele list in luxury markets like Newport Beach, Laguna, and Dana Point.
