Hi RUBINA, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a very young age, I discovered my love for planning and organizing. Anytime someone mentioned an event, I’d grab my notepad and pen and immediately begin outlining ideas—what was needed, how it could come together. It was instinctive, something that felt deeply natural to me. Event planning wasn’t just something I enjoyed; it was part of who I was.

After completing my undergraduate studies, I planned to launch my own wedding planning company following grad school. During my MBA program, I met my late business partner, Talin. We connected over our shared passion for events and decided to turn that mutual interest into something bigger. After obtaining our MBA in 2011, we co-founded Memorable Moments Event Planning and Design.

About four years later, I continued the business on my own, and I’ve been running it solo ever since. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of planning a wide range of events, but weddings remain at the heart of what I do. There’s something incredibly special about being part of such a meaningful day in people’s lives, and it’s a privilege I never take for granted.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first started in this industry, there weren’t nearly as many event planners as there are today. Now, with so many talented professionals in the space, it’s more important than ever to stay relevant while remaining true to your authentic style. I believe that authenticity is what helps you attract the right clients—those who truly align with your vision and appreciate what you uniquely bring to the table. It’s about making sure your brand speaks directly to the kind of experience you’re passionate about offering, so couples know they’re in the right hands.

One of the ongoing challenges is navigating the gap between a couple’s dream wedding and their actual budget. Many couples come in with Pinterest-perfect visions, not realizing how quickly costs can add up. My job is to help them bring that vision to life in a way that’s both beautiful and realistic—without ever making them feel like they’re settling. That takes a lot of tact, creativity, and thoughtful communication.

The wedding world is constantly evolving—from styles and trends to technology and client expectations. To stay ahead, you have to keep learning, growing, and adapting. What worked five years ago might not work today, so I always make it a priority to stay inspired, refreshed, and in tune with where the industry is headed.
