Today we’d like to introduce you to Riccardo Berdini.
Riccardo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in a small town in Italy called Trieste but my entire family is from Rome. After a successful career in musical theatre in Italy where I was awarded the best musical performer for my interpretation of Jean Valjean in the musical Les Miserables, I decided to move to LA to pursue my childhood dream and my greatest passion: cinema.
Unexpectedly, when I moved to LA, I started to be obsessed with magic so much that I was not able to do anything else. In three years, I quickly became one of the most successful magicians in the city. And now I’m a member of the prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood and I have a resident show at EL CID called SPELLBOUND where I successfully combine mentalism and music for the first time in magic history. I also develop my own magic and now my products are used by magicians all over the world.
Has it been a smooth road?
Los Angeles is a very expensive city and my visa only allow me to work as an artist so I couldn’t do any side job… At the beginning, I had to struggle to survive cause I didn’t have money to pay the rent or even to buy grocery… it was very hard… plus, I had to learn a new language and learn a culture that seems similar but it’s completely different from mine… but now everything is going so well, I feel I’m living a dream.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
Another thing I’m very proud of is the fact that I’m creating a sort of motivational magic where people learn how to be more connected and how are mind has so much more potential than we can imagine. Music is a big part of it. Magic and music are deeply connected. Music is pure magic, the way it can influence our mood, our emotions and our choices is incredible
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I wanna win America’s Got Talent, create my own tv special called Renaissance Man and develop a Broadway show based on Spellbound. And then, of course, I want to direct my first movie, a drama set in the underground fights world called Tori, based on a short I already made… but that’s another story…
