Meet Renita Smith of Drinks By Explosive in Rialto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renita Smith.

Renita, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was just a little girl with a dream but didn’t know it would turn into a thing.

I started making drinks and playing around with fruits when I was about seven years old. I can recall a time when there was nothing on shelves or coolers in the local stores that I liked, but I always settled for apple or orange juice. I knew this couldn’t be life lol. Well, one day my dad came in with a million peaches (literally) with no meat (my mom was furious) and we started cutting, putting a little sugar on them, and bagging them for the freezer. He then said ” how about we put a little milk in it too.” I couldn’t wait until they were completely frozen so I took one of them out and it was slushy. It was at that moment I knew I could do anything. That’s how I started. Salute to the world greatest Dad!!!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road to any destination isn’t easy and even the streets with no bumps have cracks. Life changed for me when I lost my dad in 2009 and with him apart the world of me died. I turned cold and later that year death actually greeted me at the door. I fell ill and was told I wouldn’t make it out of the hospital. So. I fought for my life along with praying friends and family and after three months of struggle, I made it home. That was the hardest curve on this road. The path was not easy but certainly blessed to be here to see the dream awake.

Please tell us about Drinks By Explosive.
I am the “drinklady” and my company pride itself on making non-alcoholic homemade Lemonades and Teas. Although all my drinks are a burst of explosive goodness. I heard the strawberry lemonade and 50/50 as I call it are my best sellers.

I am known for being the good friend, with good energy and great drinks.

I am most proud of my company because when I am not selling through my online store, setting up beverage station for any occasion, or fostering children. I am passing out drinks to the homeless. I started a Project called ” Project drinks for the homeless”. I believe they want more than water so I go out give them all this goodness.

My personality and my heart sets me apart and with those two being stamped by God makes me one of a kind.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Anything with my big brother Markeith Lawrence Smith Sr was my favorite. We fussed, fought, played, but most of all we loved and carried that on till this day.
