Meet Ralphy Vies of Sherman Oaks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ralphy Vies.

Hi Ralphy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey in fashion started in the early 2000s when my father couldn’t buy me the wrestling shirts I wanted. My older brother suggested we make our own using iron-on transfer paper, and that’s where my love for creating clothes began. Around the same time, music became a big part of my life growing up in the Bronx, especially through singing with Highbridge Voices, which helped me discover my passion for performing.

Fashion took a more serious turn when my best friend dropped out of college and challenged me to build something meaningful with him. That moment sparked the creation of our brand, which grew into a household name and was worn by celebrities like Keri Hilson, Teyana Taylor, DJ Babey Drew, Cam’ron, Gilbert Arenas, and many more.

On the music side, one of my biggest highlights was when my single aired on Revolt TV and got spins on stations like Power 105.1 and 93.3 The Beat. Today, I’m combining my two passions—fashion and music—while living in the Valley and continuing to share my work with the world. Having someone like Gilbert Arenas, a Valley legend, wear one of my pieces was a full-circle moment that words can’t fully describe.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been the smoothest journey, because anything meaningful in life comes with challenges. Along the way, I’ve learned that obstacles can actually help clarify your vision. One of my biggest struggles was learning to say “no.” We live in a world where everyone wants to be liked or accepted, and that often leads to saying “yes” too much. But every time you say yes to one thing, you’re also saying no to something else. I had to learn to step back and ask myself if the opportunities I was accepting truly aligned with my purpose and destiny—if they didn’t, then they weren’t worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer-songwriter and fashion designer. I don’t see myself as specializing in one specific lane—I focus on being authentically me. Through fashion, I create pieces that make people feel confident and look good, and through music, I make feel-good songs that reflect the ups and downs of life while reminding people that everything will be okay.

I’m most proud of moments that felt like full-circle blessings, like seeing my favorite rapper, Cam’ron, wear my clothing and my favorite basketball player, Gilbert Arenas, represent my brand. Another milestone was hearing my own music on the radio late at night, right at a point when I was questioning if this path was really for me.

What sets me apart is simple: God didn’t make a duplicate of me. Everything I share—whether in fashion or music—comes from one mind, one perspective, rooted in the idea that your pain is my pain and your joy is my joy. I just happen to express it through art.

What’s next?
Right now, my main focus is putting together an EP that gives the world a true understanding of who Ralphy Vies is. I want to use music to express the emotions and experiences we all go through but sometimes are afraid to say out loud. At the same time, I’m preparing to release my signature fashion collection, which I’ve been developing for quite some time.

My goal is to see my pieces carried in stores like Bloomingdale’s, Saks, and Union LA, while continuing to build the brand on a global scale. More than anything, I’m committed to staying consistent, embracing the ups and downs of the journey, and finding balance while bringing both my music and fashion vision to life.
