Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Faucette.
Hi Patrick, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in New Jersey and pursued my education in Boston, where I earned my degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University. After graduating, I headed to San Francisco, where I began my career at a sports medicine clinic — which really set the foundation for my clinical interests.
From there, I relocated to Los Angeles, where I intentionally sought out a wide range of experiences across multiple healthcare settings — hospitals, home healthcare, nursing homes, and outpatient clinics. That breadth of experience gave me a well-rounded perspective on patient care and the healthcare system as a whole.
About four years ago, I took everything I’d learned and channeled it into building something of my own — and that’s how Oval Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine was born. It’s been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, the beginning came together through a stroke of luck. The physician I was working with was closing his PT department, and when I approached him about purchasing the equipment, he made me a generous offer — rent the space and the equipment was mine. It was a great start.
After that first year though, things got more challenging. When my lease was up, he decided to rent out the entire building, which meant I had to find a new location. It was a stressful process, and at one point a prospective landlord tried to change the terms right before we signed, but I found the right space at the last minute.
Staffing was another early hurdle. Finding the right people — particularly a reliable assistant — took some trial and error. And financially, that first year was tough. There were moments where I had to ask myself, ‘If I reach the point where I can’t make payroll, is this still worth it?’ I came close to that line, but I never crossed it. Looking back, pushing through that period was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Oval Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine is a full-service physical therapy clinic where we treat a wide range of patients and injuries. Some of our most common cases involve the knee, shoulder, and spine — everything from post-operative rehabilitation to sprains, strains, and chronic pain management.
What really sets us apart is our hands-on approach to care. I’m a strong believer in manual therapy — working directly with patients through stretching, manual resistive exercises, and joint mobilization. I find that this level of direct, personalized treatment gets patients better faster and builds a stronger therapeutic relationship.
Beyond the clinical side, we genuinely care about our patients as people. We follow each patient closely throughout their entire recovery journey, making sure they feel supported every step of the way — not just checked in and checked out.
We also make access to care as easy as possible by accepting most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna, Regal, and Lakeside, as well as Workers’ Compensation.
What makes you happy?
The most rewarding part of this work is seeing my patients get back to doing what they love. It doesn’t matter if it’s returning to the basketball court or simply being able to walk around the block again — every milestone matters. When a patient reaches that moment where their injury no longer holds them back, that’s what it’s all about for me. Their happiness is my happiness. That’s really the driving force behind everything we do at Oval.
