I had been wanting to own my own business for quite some time. When my mother was alive, we always talked about opening a nail salon together. She, unfortunately, passed away from breast cancer and we weren’t able to make this business dream a reality together. After many ups and downs in life, my husband and I decided to finally go through with the goal of owning our own salon. The decision was very quick and almost immediately we were in construction. Today, we have been open for a year and a half and the business is still growing with more room to grow.
I decided that I wanted to bring back customer service, true customer service, to an industry almost void of that. Our regulars and even first-time customers can agree that we have met and exceeded expectations of true customer service. Come in and see first hand (and foot) for yourself!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I didn’t pick an inexpensive location to open the nail salon so gaining customers had to be quick in order to cover costs. Of course, being a new business, one expects to cover costs out of pocket until it picks up and people begin to buzz about it. Even after being open for a year and a half, people still walk into the salon and are amazed they had never come across us or heard of us before. We are still growing but our many incentives keep the customers walking in and coming back!
Acrylique Nail Spa – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Personally, I am very proud of the different methods we use to retain loyal customers who appreciate everything we do. For starters, we have a customer loyalty program which converts their dollars to points and can be redeemed for discounts and services. One hundred points accumulated is $10 off their next service! It’s very easy to gain the points as well. We also serve a variety of alcoholic beverages (whiskey, vodka, wine, champagne, cognac, beer, cocktails) and nonalcoholic beverages (various herbal and nonherbal teas, coffee, juices, sodas). If it’s your birthday month, you get 10% off your services for the entire month! For every new customer that you refer, you get 10% off your service (bring 4 new people, get 40% off!). We have awesome Yelp check-in offers (differs from month to month) and send out monthly specials to our customers signed up with our loyalty program.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am very critical of myself, but my friends say that they’re proud that I built this from the ground up with no experience in the industry. I still have to reach my proud moment.
