Meet Morningstar Sargenti of Luminous Being in Hollywood Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morningstar founder of Luminous Being.

Morningstar, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?

The first part of my life I was born and raised in Hawaii. I have always felt a deep connection to the earth and nature. I was raised on the beaches and in the jungles. I feel very fortunate to have had this experience during my formative years, before moving to the mainland. This is and always will be, a deeply spiritual loving path that I am on. I have been doing yoga and meditation throughout my childhood, and grew up on a vegetarian diet, with wheat grass shots and playing in the ocean.

I started the clothing line, Luminous Being, while taking Kundalini yoga classes in Los Angeles, California. I felt inspired to make a beautiful variety of eco-friendly clothes, for people to choose from. I care for the future generations of all of the earth life, animals, children, plants and mother earth. I hope future generations will be able to enjoy all the beautiful experiences and places on this planet. A more earth friendly lifestyle, even with our clothing choices, is extremely important. I am an artist, a photographer, painter and ex-high fashion model. I wanted to make a difference, leaving a legacy and being conscious with my work and creativity. This is my life’s love and passion.

I love using  all my skills, creativity and knowledge for Luminous Being Eco Luxury Wear. I truly love it, it’s so inspiring and wonderful to make beautiful clothing that is in harmony with our mother earth. My commitment is to the earth and my spiritual path of light. In our clothing line we use organic cottons,  spandex from recycled bottles and sustainable textiles.  Our garments are made in Los Angeles, California, USA. I feel inspired, at where I am today, with this company Luminous Being. We are all Luminous Beings, I say, “let your light shine!”

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel blessed, yes there have been colorful challenges building Luminous Being  Eco Luxury Brand  from the ground up, but this is growth, I am so happy we are growing and expanding.  It’s like a seed pushing up from the earth to become a flower. This world is very precious to me and I feel it’s all worth it. Challenges are opportunities for expansion. I feel very thankful for all the love from the many yoga studios and stores carrying our clothing line. It shows they care about our planet by carrying eco-conscious brands like Luminous Being.

Please tell us about LUMINOUS BEING.
Luminous Being is branded ‘eco luxury.’ Our mission was born of mutual passions for elegance, practicality, and sustainability.

Our first iteration was to design a luxury yoga line of apparel that was gentle and luxurious on the skin, to more readily enable yoga practitioners to focus on their practice. In designing, we realized the need for yoga clothes that had ‘cushion’ and the ability to be worn from day to night, both at yoga and away from it. Through a focus on a minimal and refined aesthetic and color palate, we were able to arrive at a mix-and-match capsule collection that can be integrated with flip flops or high heels.

A touchstone of sustainability is quality clothes made to last. This being our framework, we set out to source organics and sustainable recycled textiles, while consulting with several fair trade designers, we arrived at the decision to manufacture all of our yoga wear pieces in the U.S.A. This provides us the opportunity to have a personal relationship with each member of our supply chain of textile providers and seamstresses.

Luminous Being’s unique intersection of elegance and function has had a far-reaching reception; we are featured in stores, boutiques and yoga studios worldwide. Our feeling is that beauty is always sustainable, that elegance should be made with, both longevity and community in mind, and that a love for both the planet and people is a necessary keystone of any beautiful design. To this end, we are in alignment with our mission of ethical sustainable practices. Luminous Being Eco Luxury brand has a great variety of options, women’s yoga wear, men’s yoga wear and even maternity yoga wear.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories was floating on my back, in the ocean at Waikiki Beach, looking at the clouds pass by. I was so happy I could float and relax at the same time. That was a big accomplishment at 4 years old. I looked on the shore to make sure my mom could see me. The happiness I felt in my heart was explosive. I also liked to ride around on my bicycle with my cat in a basket, he was a great co-pilot. Looking back at my childhood, it is funny to think about all these happy memories.
