Meet Matt Thompson of Skyview Ventures in Century City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Thompson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Matt. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have worked at the intersection of technology and investing for twenty years. I currently am the Senior Vice President for Skyview Ventures. Previously, I worked on technology private equity investments at Skyview Capital. Prior to Skyview, I worked at The Gores Group, executing technology buyouts. Before Gores, I worked in mergers & acquisitions at Sony Pictures and in consulting firms FTI Consulting and PwC. I graduated from Pomona College in Claremont and from Stanford Business School. I am also on the screening committee of Tech Coast Angels.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been challenging to choose which of the hundreds of great LA-based technology companies to invest in.

Skyview Ventures is the angel and venture capital arm of Skyview Capital.

Skyview Ventures focuses on investments in technology, software, consumer, biotech that have a disruptive thesis. Since inception we have invested in EdTech startup Kangarootime.com and eCommerce platform provider BuyitInstalled.com. We are based in Los Angeles and can bring operational and financial expertise to the table.
