Today we’d like to introduce you to Magda Gorecka.
Hi Magda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Magda Gorecka. I am a pediatric physical therapist with over two decades of experience in my craft. My professional journey has been shaped by a variety of experiences that has allowed me to discover my passion for working with children with special needs and their incredible families.
I received my Masters in Physical Therapy in my home country of Poland. My first job with neurological adults quickly made me realized the multitude of complexities in neuro rehabilitation. That early experiences led me to enroll into a 9 months post grad clinical residency offered by Kaiser Permanente Hospital in CA. That was my first extensive training that changed how I approached my professional life and started the path of lifelong growth and humble learning. Learning about possibilities and ways of awaking potential of the human brain and body to regenerate, learn and change.
Vision for Movement Horizons clinic has been born many years ago in my dreams and aspirations of creating
practice that will embrace a child as a whole while providing movement and physical therapy service at the highest possible level led by integrity, compassion, love and unwavering belief in human potential. Simultaneously supporting parents and their journey of growth, hope and learning.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge that I face in my profession is ongoing lack of awareness about the power and effectiveness of early intervention for children demonstrating motor delays. When early red flags are recognized and addressed promptly, they can dramatically alter the course of a child’s development.. It is absolutely necessary for every pediatric therapist to continuously advocate for out little clients, educate fellow parents, pediatricians, nannies and everyone who cares for youngest children. First 12 months of life are filled with milestones and every one of those build foundation for the next skill.
Let’s continue to work together as collaborators and help our kids reach their highest potentials.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Movement Horizons ?
It took years of post graduate trainings to gain knowledge and develop expertise offered to the families and children we serve today. Thousands of hours of trainings, labs and exams in order to complete certifications in the most progressive and effective approaches to pediatric rehabilitation.
At Movement Horizons, therapy is not about deficits—it’s about awaking a child potential to overcome their challenge. It’s not just about completing sessions—it’s about building meaningful relationships that foster a sense of safety and trust in every child. This emotional foundation is where true progress begins. Our clinic is a space where families are encouraged to ask questions, where they feel supported and empowered with knowledge, compassion, and hands-on strategies they can apply at home. We walk alongside parents, guiding them with the tools and confidence they need to help their child thrive.
Movement Horizons clinical expertise centers around two primary groups of children. The first is the early intervention group—infants and toddlers from birth to age three. These formative years are critical and often shape a child’s future level of independence. No matter what the reason for delays , early intervention is a most effective of optimizing long term outcomes.
The second group that we specialize includes children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This population is vastly underserved in the physical therapy world. Despite appearing physically capable, many of these children face significant challenges with proprioception, interoception, motor planning, balance, and coordination. Unfortunately, they are often overlooked—either due to the misconception that they are “doing fine” or because many physical therapists lack the training needed to work effectively with neurodivergent children.
I specialize in application of MNRI sensory motor reflex integration exercises as well as ABM Neuromovement approach to optimize brain ability to gain new skills. This powerful combination is what allows me to unlock growth and new potential with children on a spectrum.
What sets me apart from other therapy clinics is the ” way” I work with children. Seeing potential in every interaction, gently introducing them to the new world of connection, movement, self body awareness. On so many occasions parents share with me words ” I wish I knew earlier about this approach”, ” I wish we started earlier”.
My mission is to start training and mentoring younger therapists to guide them and show them how to work effectively with children on the spectrum and children who require from us to be steady leaders. There are so many families in need and we do have to help them more effectively.
Every one of those children deserves to reach higher potential in their motor skills, and every child who improves their motor and sensory system will have gains in their social, communication and daily skills leading to improved quality of life for the entire family.
At Movement Horizons, I use a powerful combination of MNRI® (Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration) and the ABM NeuroMovement® approach to support and enhance brain plasticity and developmental potential. These gentle, evidence-informed methods allow me to meet each child where they are—and guide them toward meaningful growth, skill acquisition, and self-awareness.
What truly sets our clinic apart is not just what we do, but how we do it. I see potential in every child and in every interaction. I carefully introduce children to new experiences of movement, connection, and body awareness—always with patience, respect, and trust at the center. Again and again, I hear from parents: “I wish we had known about this earlier”, ” I wish someone would have told us about the importance of working with primitive reflexes”.
Looking ahead, my mission is to mentor and train the next generation of pediatric therapists—especially those eager to work with children on the autism spectrum or those who require a deeper level of leadership and emotional attunement from their therapists. There are so many families in need, as professionals we have a responsibility to serve, educate and support them with the highest level of integrity and commitment.
Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Improvements in motor and sensory systems don’t only lead to better physical abilities—they enhance communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and daily life skills. When a child progresses, the entire family’s quality of life improves.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is empowering parents, providing them with education and skills that can be used in every day life. At the same time, it is extremely important to me to support and mentor younger colleagues. It is critical for more physical therapist to learn how to serve children on the spectrum. Most recent statistics show that ~3.2% of 8‑year‑old U.S. children (1 in 31) is being diagnosed with ASD!
Holistic and interdisciplinary intervention taking into account the complexities of development of a child is a must! physical and occupational therapy, sensory motor reflex integration, speech therapy with AAC support are all must for those children to reach their highest potential.
My mission is to advocate for the interdisciplinary ” whole child” approach for as long as its needed.
