Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Santos.
Hi Madison, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out like most everyone trying to get into the industry, with little to no experience, no connections, having no idea where to start, and absolutely no formal training. I had been half ass trying to model for years while I worked a full-time job that gave me very little time or energy for my creative endeavors. In 2020, during the pandemic, I had lost everything: my job, my health, my car, my home, and my savings. With nothing left and nothing holding my back, I decided to try to see where I could go professionally with my art if I pursued it full-time and put 100% of my effort into it. I moved into a content house in Las Vegas, started signing to acting and modeling agencies, got my headshots, digitals, and any other materials together that I could before actually getting any work. I started auditioning and submitting myself to as many gigs as I could. Within six months I started booking full-time, within the first year I did almost 500 auditions, booked over 60 gigs, and put together my own network within the industry.
By my second year, I was booking principal roles, doing featured BG gigs on big network TV shows, and landed principal roles in three feature films; one being my first lead role in an Amazon Prime movie. I also started producing music videos, short films and moved my way up to feature films. This year I have my own team and I spent the majority of this year traveling and doing huge international modeling campaigns while I worked on my first very own feature film: writing, producing, and eventually will be starring in. Currently, I am also in the process of developing my own production company, and I’m very excited to start sharing my own stories with the world!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My creative journey has been anything but smooth and I’m grateful for it because it taught me all the lessons I needed to learn to get to where I am today. It taught me to push for my dreams no matter what obstacles come my way. Personally, I had a lot of struggles to get past from family drama, to break ups, to a cancer scare and health issues, death of loved ones, and personal traumas/triggers I needed to finally deal with to grow. Professionally, I had even more struggles from working in LA but living in Las Vegas and having to commute back and forth every couple of days, to not having the men I was working with take me serious as a creative, going through months of no gigs, being dropped by my biggest acting agent, and at one point losing my passion for my art and having to find a way back to my path and passion. The thing that kept me going through it all is the feeling that I finally found my calling, that I’m where I’m supposed to be and doing what I’m meant to be doing when I’m on set. I have never felt that from any other job and being able to see my art come to fruition and sharing my art with the world is an incredible feeling that makes all these struggles worth it in the end!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an Actor, Producer, and International Model from Los Angeles, CA. I have done everything from national commercials, top artist music videos, network TV shows, and feature films. I am known for my lead role as Max in Amazon Primes feature film “Felines”. I was also living in Manila, Philippines for ten months as a model and just finished a huge campaign for Footlocker x Nike x FIBA.
How do you think about happiness?
Surprisingly, I have learned to find happiness in a slower life, enjoying the small things like getting to eat with my family, spending quality time with myself and my loved ones, finding a balance in my personal life away from the craziness of working in the entertainment industry. Traveling, meeting new people, creativity new memories, and learning new cultures is also something that I have been learning to prioritize in between big projects. Spending quiet days reading a new book, journaling, and meditating— these are the things that make me truly happy now.
