Meet Lyssa Coulter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyssa Coulter.

Hi Lyssa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Music has always been a part of my life. I don’t think I remember a time where music wasn’t prominent. I sang everywhere and anywhere I could growing up. Not necessarily performing, but around the house, in the car, at school, etc. My senior year of high school, my family moved to a new town and I found a vocal coach who contributed to expanding my skill and opened up the doors of the industry. She informed me about booking gigs and guided me in looking at my hobby as more of a business. Once I realized I was able to build and climb in the industry, I let nothing stop me.

From there, I connected myself with the New England country music community. I found much guidance and learned many friendships. This leads me to my discovery of Music City. After my first trip, I realized Nashville was my future and moved here in February of 2019. Shortly after, I found myself opening up for acts such as Big and Rich, LANCO, Rascal Flatts and many more. I now continue to travel the country and over quarantine took the time to get to know myself better. From there, I was able to rebrand and put out music and present myself. I always want my audience to see me moving forward.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been anything close to smooth sailing. This industry in general is rocky. With that being said, I do feel fortunate to have had guidance from people along the way to contribute in helping me make smart business decisions. I think the largest challenge is being only 23 years old and having to have somewhat of an idea about who I am to portray a “brand”.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a country-pop singer and songwriter. I perform and write songs for a living. The accomplishment I’m most proud of is probably my music video being featured on CMT.com or my 2019 Maybe Tonight Tour. We had the opportunity to perform at three festivals which had 90,000 people in attendance those weekends. What sets me apart from others is my drive and determination. There are so many artists that have a goal of selling out stadiums or arenas but have the fear of saying it out loud because it may sound “silly” to some. I’m extremely outspoken about my goals and aspirations. I think they are an important part of believing in yourself and reaching your goals.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Living my best life. We were put here for one reason. They live a happy and fulfilled life and I want others to also understand that, take life by the hand and do the same. The only person stopping anyone from doing anything is themselves. There aren’t laws saying “so and so cant be happy this life” or “so and so cant reach this dream or goal”. The only person saying that and making that “rule” is the person thinking it. It’s important people realize they are able to live life completely and fulfilled.
