Today we’d like to introduce you to Lulu Olguin.
Hi Lulu, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Bandida Brand owner and designer. I’m from Guadalajara Jalisco México and I live in Los Angeles, California.
I’ve always thought there’s nothing better than doing what you love, that way there’s nothing to lose.
I love music, art and Fashion. Street Fashion is my Style. I love to wear clothes that are fun, different and unique. So one day, I made a jacket for myself. I hand painted it, put studs, patches, chains, and wore it and people were like, “I love your jacket” “I love your style” where did you get it”.
So I thought why not to combine all my passions and make unique, custom made and hand-painted pieces that match my style and sell them and if they don’t sell I will just keep them for myself.
But once I made the first pieces, I had an amazing response and they sold out. And that’s how Bandida Brand started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think that in life, in general, we all struggle, some of us struggle more than others, whether it’s for money, for not having the support you need, or for things and situations that happen that we can not control or change.
When I decided to create Bandida Brand, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. At the beginning, it took me weeks to make my first pieces. And then more time to start selling them. But when I sold my first piece, It was the best feeling and I just wanted to make more.
I love making new custom pieces, bringing all my ideas to life, and seeing people wearing it. Every time I make a new piece for me is like a new challenge. It feels just like the first day.
I think that when you are doing something that you love, at the end of the day, all struggles are worthy.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Bandida Brand is a streetwear brand based in LA inspired in Music, Art and Fashion. Is a collection of very exclusive and limited pieces that are One of a kind. Including hand-painted jackets, graphic tees, hoodies, pants, and hats. Pieces that are unisex for men, women and kids.
Everything is reworked, designed and or custom-made by me. Todo hecho con Amor and every piece is very special and unique.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that most people don’t know about my designs is that every piece I make, I make it like if it’s going to be for myself and sometimes it could take me hours or even days to finish it up because I want to make sure that every single detail is on point.
