Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Chavis.
Hi Lindsey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Lindsey; most people call me (Lou). I am the owner of Peace of Her by Lou, a health and wellness shop. I have always been conscious about my health, specifically my physical, mental, and spiritual health. As I started taking more time to learn I was able to learn what it is our bodies need and started connecting to a healthier lifestyle and teaching others along the way. I found myself connecting to people on weight loss journeys because I myself have struggled with my weight being up and down over the years due to medicines that caused weight gain and not having the best mental health space causing depression, but I learned how to take back my life and do what I needed physically and mentally and in the process my journey pushed me to start my business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been an “emotional rollercoaster” I would have to be honest with people with telling them the road to success and growth will take you through every emotion. I struggled for years with self-doubt, that has been my biggest challenge. I’m a single parent mother of a beautiful little girl that I had at the age of 17 years old and the doubt others put on me stuck with me for many years and allowed me to set up limitations on myself. Although being raised by a single mother was always my motivation that I could do anything because my mother always gave affirmations and reassured me that I could accomplish anything.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Peace of Her by Lou?
Peace of Her by Lou is my business that I birthed from a vision that I had that was inspired by my own personal journey to create a life that is built on health and wellness. It is a brand of many things, I would say. I started Peace of Her as a meal prep service to create peace for people on their fitness and weightless journeys. Choosing a healthy lifestyle change can be time-consuming, challenging, and expensive but I came up with healthy options and ways to curate a peaceful journey with the Peace from her and her being me. As I started meal prepping for a year, I then started taking on the importance of organic and natural juices, fruits, vegetables and smoothies. I then began to post my passion using my social media platform of many followers to show my recipes and the next thing I knew, I was offering services and became my community “juice girl” everything healthy I’m involved in and produce.
I recently limited my services and partnered with another business and will soon be opening my first Juice Shop. I would like to say my brand is different because it’s more than just goods and services when it comes to my shop its support, accountability, and connections. I’m connected to many people from yoga, gyms, and more, so I try to connect clients and customers to every outlet to help them on their lifestyle changes. I’ve always told myself my brand is bigger than me and when I say that, I mean just that it’s about people, about community, and about giving back. I made a commitment to quarterly give back 15% of my business earnings or time to feed the city. “Feed the City” is an organization I created through my business to connect with people in my community.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is living out my purpose, accomplishing goals that I’ve set for myself as well as making a positive impact in my community.
