Meet Lidia Napoli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lidia Napoli.

Lidia, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m an actress and producer. I’ve discovered acting at 12 in a summer camp and I’ve always wanted to be an actress. I started to work when I was really young and never stopped: theatre, television, voice-over work but making movies is what I love the most! I just can’t explain that magical kind of feeling and I feel so grateful to be being able to do that for a living. I also enjoy recording audiobooks because I love reading and the joy of getting lost in a good story.

I felt I needed to expand my horizons so I’m writing and producing my own projects and I hope to direct at some point. My first short movie “Jack” was shown in over 40 festivals worldwide, was aired on Spanish TV and won awards in USA and Asia.

Has it been a smooth road?
Well, I would lie if I told you that it’s easy, especially in the beginning when you run through auditions and you don’t know if you’ll ever work as an actor. Luckily, I was tenacious enough not to give up and keep trying and trying. Looking over my story so far, I can indeed say that my tenacity helped me a lot.

You always have to do your best and not letting disappointments stop you from trying again. No one can teach you that, it’s up to you.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My work in movie production is extremely challenging, the whole process from pre-production to post-production and festival distribution is really hard. I’m proud we reached international market countries like California, NY, Canada, Florida, New Mexico, Russia and India.

On the other hand, my acting career led me to work in really interesting projects and that’s what I’m looking for when I read scripts: having the opportunity to tell stories worth sharing.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like a lot of things of Turin, my adoptive city: its elegance and beauty, it’s a livable place, I feel good here.

I would say I don’t like the weather, way too cold!
