Meet Laura Francesca of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Francesca.

Hi Laura Francesca, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised on a tiny island in the Caribbean called Aruba. Growing up, I always dreamed of becoming an actress. I literally taught myself English as a kid by watching American shows and movies. In 2019, when I was 18, I moved to Los Angeles to study Theatre Arts at Loyola Marymount University and start chasing that dream.

In 2022, I went through something really traumatic that led me to take a year off from school. That time was incredibly tough, but also ended up changing my life. I didn’t have much going on during that break, so I randomly started posting short “day in my life” vlogs on TikTok, just simple 15–20 second videos with music. My first few posts blew up: 700k views, 2 million, 4 million, then 11 million. It was wild. I gained 500k followers in less than two months.

At first, I didn’t have a niche, but people kept asking about my workout routine. I was super anxious about filming in the gym back then. I was new to fitness, insecure about my form, and just scared of people judging me. But I had started going to the gym for my mental health, because therapy wasn’t helping me cope the way I needed. Working out became the one thing that helped me heal. I started learning, building confidence, and realized… no one’s really watching you at the gym like you think they are. People forget whatever “embarrassing” thing you did five minutes later.

That mindset shift changed everything for me. I leaned into fitness content while still posting lifestyle stuff, and eventually signed with brands I’ve looked up to for years like Gymshark, YoungLA, and DFYNE. I just graduated from LMU with my bachelor’s in Theatre Arts, and now I’m going all-in on both acting and content creation. I also want to get certified in personal training soon and eventually offer online coaching or launch an app with my workouts.

I’m so beyond grateful for everything. Especially as a girl from a small island who moved here knowing no one. This life I’m living now is the dream I’ve had since I was little… and it’s just the beginning.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. I’ve been through a lot. Personally, financially, emotionally. In 2020, when COVID hit, Aruba was impacted really badly, and at the same time, my parents went through a very difficult divorce. I grew up in an abusive household, and in 2021, when I turned 21, my father cut ties with me completely. He refused to continue supporting me financially, even though he was supposed to pay for my education and housing, which led to a long legal battle. It was a really dark time. My mom had to start over from scratch.

But then in February 2022, I went through something extremely traumatic that shattered me all over again. It forced me to take a leave of absence from school for a year. That time off became a strange blessing in disguise. It gave me the space to heal, and eventually led me to start creating content. The gym and making videos were the only things that kept me going during that time.

It’s been far from easy, and there are still things I’m processing and healing from, but everything I’ve been through made me who I am today. I wouldn’t be here without those hardships. And now, I try to share my journey as openly as I can to remind people they’re not alone, and that it is possible to build something beautiful out of pain.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a content creator and recent Theatre Arts graduate, and I specialize in fitness and lifestyle content. I originally started posting as a creative outlet during a really dark time in my life, and somehow, that turned into a career I never expected. What I’m most known for now is sharing my gym journey, my routines, and little pieces of my life in a way that’s honest and relatable. I think that’s what draws people in, I don’t sugarcoat anything. I’ve been through a lot, and I’ve always been open about it because I know how powerful it is to see someone make it out of something that felt impossible.

I’m really proud of everything I’ve achieved so far, especially coming from a tiny island in the Caribbean. It’s not common to see someone from Aruba “make it” in this industry, and while I’m definitely not claiming to be a celebrity, I’m living out dreams I had since I was a little girl. I’ve built a community of people who support me, and even more importantly, people I get to support and inspire in return.

Nothing makes me happier than hearing that someone started going to the gym because of me, or that I helped them feel more confident in themselves. That’s my mission: to help people become the best version of themselves: physically, mentally, emotionally. I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom. I didn’t think I’d make it out, but I did… and I truly believe everything I went through made me who I am today. If I can help someone else feel less alone or more hopeful, then I’m doing something right.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think the most important quality that’s led to my success is my resilience. Life has thrown a lot at me, things that could’ve completely broken me, but I’ve always found a way to keep going. Even in the lowest moments, I knew deep down that I didn’t come this far to stop here. I’ve learned how to take pain and turn it into purpose.

I’d also say my honesty plays a big role. I’ve always been real with my audience. I don’t pretend to have it all together or make up fake stories for attention. What you see is what you get. People appreciate that, and I think it’s what makes my connection with my community so strong. I’m just doing me, and I think that realness is what keeps people coming back.
