Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Middleton.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hi, I am a Maryland native who moved here to Los Angeles, California roughly two years ago in pursuit of my modeling and acting career. My journey simply started from a conversation. I’ve always been inspired by many different creatives, entertainers and knew this was a passion of mine that I needed to pursue but was unsure where to start. So I reached out to one in particular that’s influenced me, being my older sister (Brittany S. Hall ) who works within the industry. During our conversation she encouraged me to just go for it, follow my dreams and move to LA. So within a month I took a huge leap of faith, packed up and moved across country. I jumped right into it as if it came naturally. I’ve faced challenges along the way, but Its been one of the best decisions I’ve made to date.

Has it been a smooth road?
Every journey has it’s obstacles and mine isn’t any different. I have faced many challenges but most of them I would say were within myself when it came to facing rejection. You know whether it came from reps, modeling agencies, casting calls or auditions you hear a lot of no’s within this industry, which for me causes some self doubt. Especially just starting out. But over time I learned not to take it personally and just have fun with it. Practicing gratitude for the opportunities that come my way and patience along this journey has helped significantly.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
As an entrepreneur I don’t put any limitations upon myself. My main focus is acting and modeling, which is what I’m known for. But as a creative, I’m constantly seeking knowledge and inspiration while leaving space to tap into different aspects of myself. Some of my interests include storytelling and or writing, dance, art, etc. I’m not a one dimensional being and as a brand my ultimate goal is to be my authentic self and to express that freely as I evolve. What sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I set my mind on it, study, then practice until I master it. I feel it’s a great quality to have because you’re putting in the work which will show itself in time. I’m proud of the accomplishments I have made thus far. Some of my experience includes walking in fashion shows (Angel Brinks & Yekim BET collaboration 2018), working with companies as a brand ambassador (Bandolier 2018) and also signing with my agency (Unidentifiable Creatives) and (Dream Entertainment Management). I look forward to what’s to come in the near future.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I envision the industry expanding with more diversity within the next 5-10 years. Though it has already started to shift there are still many changes that needs to occur. There’s this standard box that still exists today that was placed upon the industry that I don’t see lasting as “mainstream beauty standards” due to influencers and millennials who are working to redefine beauty standards and how they are perceived. Whether it is your complexion or ethnicity, body shape or size, hair, height etc. The industry I feel is now more accepting and open. Things are shifting because there is no one way of seeing beauty and that is being taught. Even in entertainment there are more diverse/ethnic story tellers who are breaking barriers with social media and mainstream networks. With this I see many big shifts, positive changes and trends happening. There’s an abundance of opportunities to come.
