Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira Mamula.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kira. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After working 11 years for some of the largest companies in the world, such as Google and Cox Enterprises, I felt as though something was missing in my life. I was not fulfilling my life purpose. I had a highly successful sales career, yet when I would come home from work I would ask myself, “But what good did I do today? What positive impact did I have on society? Is this all that I am and can be is a saleswoman who is responsible for making companies 10’s of millions of dollars?” I felt in my heart that I was missing something and needed to make a change. I immediately started a new chapter in my life. I wanted to make a positive, life-changing impact on people’s lives and in society as a whole.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t believe anything in life is smooth or hard. It’s all about perspective and how you CHOOSE to look at your life and the journey you take. When it’s your passion and life purpose, it feels natural. It comes to you effortlessly, with minimal worry or stress. If you believe in something with every fiber of your being, nothing else matters.
Is that to say that I don’t struggle? Absolutely not! I struggle all the time, just like all human beings. But it’s a matter of choosing what program I want to feed my brain. Should I play the program in my head that says, “This is so hard! I’m facing so much adversity!” Or do I put in the program that says “This is SUPPOSED TO BE challenging. That is how I learn, grow, and become successful in accomplishing my goals.” I choose the latter. So I don’t get hung up on discussing the hardships. That only tells my brain “Oh man, things are hard!” And I don’t want that program to play.
Please tell us about K for Kira.
I am a Men’s Wellness Advocate, Personal Relationship Coach, Motivational Speaker, and Founder of the social movement “ReKognize”. I also co-host the podcast “Launch Radio”. And I’m currently writing three books (simultaneously!).
I had always held the belief that men and women need to support one another in order to have a healthy society. It felt as though society had turned on itself. It seemed that there was so much divisiveness and contempt for one another that I felt as though we had forgotten what empathy was.
I recognize that as society evolves, especially with the women’s movement, men are being left behind. Men quietly face enormous challenges without much focus or concern for their own needs as human beings. For example, men are 4x more likely to commit suicide than women. That is a startling and disturbing statistic!
I believe that a healthy man equals a healthy society. And a healthy man equals healthy relationships with women. It’s time we evaluate our own personal code of conduct and how we treat one another. It’s upon each and every one of us to lead by example in respecting and supporting each other through this thing called Life. That means men supporting women and women supporting men as we all deserve respect, compassion, and empathy.
My mission is to drive awareness that men matter too, face daily life challenges, and are in desperate need of a supportive community vs one that vilifies them. I accomplish this by educating both men AND women via private relationship coaching services, published articles, blog posts, podcasts, speaking engagements, and outreach through all social media platforms. Though proud of the women’s movement, I believe women need to gain insight and understanding into a man’s world in order to truly bridge the gap between the sexes.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where Fred Rogers is a household name. My favorite memory is being a young child watching and listening to Mister Rogers Neighborhood television programs. He made a tremendous impact on me, more than I ever realized. He spoke of love, compassion, and striving for a more connected world.
One of the most profound things he’s ever said was, “If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
That left a lasting impression on me that we are all connected. We have a bigger impact on each other than we could ever possibly realize. Treating each other with respect and care is what makes positive changes in the world.
