Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberley Stokes.
Hi Kimberley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I first started in the makeup industry in high school when I would do make up for the dance shows for my friends and I later on in life I took a step back and bartended for most of my early 20s. During Covid I decided to get back into the beauty industry starting with permanent makeup, and then blossoming into bridal makeup, eyelash extensions, brow, shaping and tinting, and all other aesthetician services. It’s truly been a passion of mine since I was a teenager and I’m so glad I decided to step back into this world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some obstacles and struggles along the way were having young kids and trying to get through the schooling in order to be able to perform services according to state law. The industry is always fluctuating between busy and slow, depending on the economy and trends.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I put everything I can into all the services that I provide, but I would have to say my favorite is eyelash extensions because they’re so versatile. Bridal makeup would be a close second for the very same reason and the fact that you get to transform people and bring out their best qualities for their special days.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
My favorite resource that helps me in life and in my professional life would be connecting with like-minded people through social media whether it’s trading tips and tricks or learning more from them that I did not know myself.
