Meet Kettie Munroe of Los Angeles / OC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kettie Munroe.

Hi Kettie , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Boston from Haiti with strong Haitian roots. I’ve had music in my blood for as long as I can remember—singing by the age of eight and writing my own songs by thirteen. I officially stepped into my professional artist journey in 2015, releasing my debut project, Venus Flytrap, in 2017 and following it up with my sophomore project, INDIGO. My music stems from pop at its core, but I love blending in world rhythms like Afrobeats, along with EDM and R&B.
Outside of my main discography, I’ve built an incredible career as a cheer music vocalist, working with clients across the globe. Along the way, my music and brand have been featured on Times Square billboards, HBO Max, Disney Channel, and major network platforms. Right before the pandemic, I decided to hone my acting craft, which landed me my first supporting role in an indie film. Beyond the stage and set, I’m deeply committed to my education—I recently graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in business and am currently studying for my MBA.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Behind the milestones, my journey has been tested by deep personal and professional hardships. The loss of my favorite aunt—the only other singer in my family—to breast cancer deeply shook my foundation and sparked a painful spiral. Over the years, I had to navigate abusive relationships, confront trauma and sexual abuse within the music industry, and battle severe depression, often finding myself coping through alcohol. At one point, I hit rock bottom and experienced homelessness, staying with friends while trying to rebuild my life from the ground up.
Through every dark reality of the industry and every personal struggle, the art of music and acting became my ultimate sanctuary and escape—the very things that pulled me through to the other side.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My versatility, multi-hyphenate career, and specialized work as an international cheer music vocalist form the heart of who I am as a recording artist.

What I Do & Specialize In

Global Cheer Music Vocalist: While pursuing my solo career, I’ve specialized as a custom cheer vocalist for cheerleading programs, producers, and agencies worldwide. My vocal range—delivering both high-energy, confident rap tracks and smooth, emotive pop vocals—has made me a go-to artist for custom routine tracks.

Genre-Bending Sound: My solo music stems from pop at its core, but I love blending in world music influences like Afro beats, EDM, and R&B.

Actress & Onscreen Performer: Beyond the recording booth, I trained in acting and landed my first supporting role in an indie film.

Songwriter: Writing since I was 13, I craft my own solo projects (*Venus Flytrap*, *INDIGO*) as well as custom vocal tracks for clients around the globe.

What Sets Me Apart

The Cheer Music Connection: Most mainstream pop artists take a traditional path through singles and live gigs, but I bridged the gap between commercial pop and the specialized cheer industry. My vocals power high-stakes cheer routines across the world, giving me a unique global footprint in a niche market alongside my solo career.

Cross-Platform Visibility: My brand and music have crossed over into major mainstream channels—featured on Times Square billboards, HBO Max, Disney Channel, and other network platforms.

Business Acumen: Blending creative artistry with business, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in business and am actively pursuing my MBA, giving me direct ownership over my brand, music business, and career execution.

What I Am Most Known For

Projects & Discography:* My debut EP *Venus Flytrap* (2017), sophomore record *INDIGO* (2019), and singles like “Perfect,” “Mi Lova,” and “KONSA (Come My Way).”
