Meet Kendall Gall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Gall.

Hi Kendall, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
By way of corporate retail, I got started in the entertainment industry by just existing in Los Angeles. As I grew my network, I encountered more and more brands, as well as individuals, who needed support bringing things across the finish line, and that’s how my business was born. Named ‘Manager Kendall’, I manage both things and people to make sure they are getting all of the attention and support that they require. What it really breaks down to is modern project management; that project could be anything from commercial and film shoots, music festivals, live experiential events and activations, influencer marketing campaigns, and relationship management. If you have a ton of moving pieces and you need them to not only become one cohesive unit but to never miss a beat, then I’m your girl!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The life of a freelancer is never smooth, but nothing worth doing comes easy. I’m very blessed to have retained many of my clients from my early days and that those clients have also introduced me to a large pool of new business that has provided ample growth. Aside from that, it can often be hard to set proper boundaries when you work for yourself. My days are a bit more fluid than someone with a traditional 9-5, but that works best with my personality and my personal life + family. You’ll often find me online over the weekend or late at night, and a lot of my projects are all-encompassing. I may have a really intense couple of weeks or extended period of time, but it’s always followed by well-deserved time offline. Developing an appropriate balance was my biggest learning curve, and also the most rewarding.

We’ve been impressed with Manager Kendall, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
It’s so funny to me to look back on how Manager Kendall originated. I was beginning to work with some of my friends in a talent management capacity, nothing official. As I began taking on that role and taking on responsibilities within their businesses, it was pretty much a joke that they would say “manage this” or “manage that”. Then it evolved into “Manager Kendall will handle that”, and it just stuck. If someone was really underwater with tasks and needed help, it turned into “Manage me, Kendall!”. When I incorporated my business and decided to push this line of work full-time, it was a no-brainer that the name had to stay! I’m happy to see that it’s still the perfect name for what I do, which is managing things and people. Whatever project it may be, it’s my role to manage all the moving pieces.

As for what I am most know for and proud of, I think those answers are all very similar. I’m known for being a reliable go-to person to get things done, and that is something that I am extremely proud of about my professional reputation. I am proud that everyone has full confidence that once they pass a project on to me to manage, they know that it’s in good hands. When they come back at the end or to check in, they are confident that there will be no step left unfinished, and the steps along the way are all managed in a highly organized and efficient manner. If it’s not complete yet, they know that all moving pieces are in motion and that we are well on our way!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I would say I am a qualified risk taker. At the end of the day, all of my projects have results tied to them that I am responsible for producing. I am all for taking a risk in order to exceed expectations, but I do ensure that if for some reason I take a chance on something that doesn’t come through, I am still capable of hitting all requirements and result markers. I don’t play it safe due to fear of taking risks, but I will play it as safely, or as risky, as I need to in order to still be fully successful.
