Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Meeks.
Hi justin , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in the beauty industry spans over 13 years, shaped by a diverse background in professional artistry, luxury beauty, education, and holistic skincare. As an Ayurveda-trained esthetician, I’ve always been drawn to the relationship between internal well-being, external beauty, and the rituals we create for ourselves.
In 2022, I founded J Meeks Beauty, a private skin therapy practice rooted in a holistic philosophy with a modern approach. My intention was to create a more intimate, personalized experience where traditional wellness principles and advanced skincare techniques could exist harmoniously.
As my practice evolved, so did my vision. J Meeks Apothecary became a natural extension of that philosophy, introducing a curated collection of botanical skincare, fragrance, incense, and lifestyle essentials designed to bring elements of the treatment experience into everyday life.
While each brand has its own identity, they are intrinsically connected. J Meeks Beauty represents the personal experience of care and treatment, while J Meeks Apothecary translates that same intention into products and rituals that extend beyond the treatment room.
Together, they reflect my belief that beauty is not simply about appearance, but about atmosphere, intention, and the relationship we cultivate with ourselves.
Ultimately, my goal has always been to create something that feels both personal and elevated—a world where beauty, wellness, and ritual exist as one.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a business is rarely a linear journey, especially within an ever-evolving economic and cultural landscape. Since establishing J Meeks Beauty in 2022 and expanding into J Meeks Apothecary, I’ve navigated shifting consumer behaviors, economic uncertainty, and the challenges of building and sustaining two interconnected brands as an independent entrepreneur.
One of the greatest challenges has been finding the balance between creative vision and the practical realities of running a business. From developing a private skincare practice to introducing a thoughtfully curated collection of skincare, fragrance, and lifestyle essentials, each stage has required adaptability, patience, and a willingness to evolve.
The beauty and wellness industries are constantly changing, and I’ve learned that staying authentic to my philosophy while responding to those changes is essential. There have certainly been moments of uncertainty, but those experiences have also encouraged me to become more resourceful, intentional, and confident in my direction.
Ultimately, I’ve come to view these challenges as part of the creative process. Both J Meeks Beauty and J Meeks Apothecary continue to evolve organically, and I’ve learned that success isn’t necessarily about following a traditional path, but about building something meaningful, sustainable, and genuinely reflective of who I am.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work exists at the intersection of beauty, wellness, and intentional living. Through J Meeks Beauty and J Meeks Apothecary, I’ve created two interconnected expressions of a singular philosophy: that beauty is a reflection of balance, ritual, and the relationship between internal and external well-being.
J Meeks Beauty is my private skin therapy practice in Pasadena, where I specialize in personalized, holistic treatments that blend Ayurvedic principles with modern skincare techniques and non-invasive technologies. My approach extends beyond traditional aesthetics, focusing on the individual as a whole and creating an intimate, restorative experience tailored to each client’s unique needs.
J Meeks Apothecary is the natural extension of that practice. What began as a curated collection of aromatic and botanical essentials has evolved into a lifestyle and skincare destination, featuring thoughtfully selected ritual goods, home fragrances, and a growing collection of botanical skincare formulations. The apothecary brings the philosophy of my treatment room into the home, encouraging clients to create meaningful moments of self-care through everyday rituals.
What makes the two brands unique is how symbiotically they exist. The treatments inspire the products, while the products extend the experience beyond the treatment room. Neither exists independently of the other; they are connected through a shared appreciation for nature, sensory experiences, and modern holistic beauty.
What I’m most proud of is building something that feels genuinely personal and authentic to my creative vision. Rather than following conventional beauty trends, I’ve focused on developing an experience that feels timeless, thoughtful, and accessible. For me, beauty is not simply about the way we look, but how we feel, the spaces we create, and the rituals we choose to incorporate into our lives.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something people may not realize is that my creative journey began long before I established J Meeks Beauty. My background spans professional makeup artistry, luxury beauty, brand education, and creative experiences, all of which have profoundly influenced the way I approach my work today.
While skincare and holistic wellness are central to my practice, I’ve always considered myself an artist first. I’m endlessly inspired by music, fashion, design, travel, and the emotional connection we have to our surroundings. Those influences find their way into everything I create, from the atmosphere of my treatment room to the fragrances, botanical formulations, and visual identity of J Meeks Apothecary.
I think what surprises people most is how interconnected those creative worlds are for me. What may appear to be a skincare practice and an apothecary is really an ongoing expression of my curiosity, experiences, and appreciation for the art of everyday living. I’ve never wanted to create simply another beauty brand. I’ve always wanted to create something that evokes a feeling.
