Meet Julian Anguiano of Mystyx Coffee Ritual

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Anguiano.

Hi Julian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m gonna start off by saying I didn’t have a promotion. I never had a raise. I didn’t go to school so I don’t get to say the cool jobs. I did graduate high school. I never fitted in anywhere. Was I the problem? Idk. I just don’t care what ppl think of me. I’m too busy making money.

I started during the pandemic on July 2020.
I Didn’t realize what I was getting myself into. I had the vision tho . I began as a barista at Kreation in West Hollywood. I Immediately felt like I landed onto something. I didn’t realize that there was a community for this type of industry. Then I took off to work at Tierra Mia, cuz Kreation wasn’t enough, I wanted to learn & earn more. Finally my last stop was Starbucks. By then I had already worked with great baristas and was trained and mastered the art. And then Mystyx begun. Mystyx is my biggest promotion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth road? Not so much, I’m 2 months sober now. Throughout these 5 years I struggled with alcoholism. I sort of lost my social life, some friends, gf, funerals, bday party’s. I lost myself, & I lost my spirit. But I came to a point of my life where I have make decisions. I found a new addiction, and that’s getting up every morning and serving my community that cup of coffee to get there day started. I’m addicted to the satisfaction that get from my fans that support me on my morning hustle. You what my coffee shop symbolizes to me, it symbolizes to me a better way of life. That I’m going to provide a better life for my family. I’m tired of being poor, I’m tired of renting, I’m tired of saying I’m tired. I only have one goal and that’s to open up my coffee shop.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mystyx Coffee Ritual?
Mystyx is a brand that was born in East LA (the hood) that represents music & coffee. It took about 3 years to get it kind of going, at least to have brand that the neighborhood can trust and support. And now that we are in the 5 year mark, ppl just know now about us. And it’s only the beginning.

We specialize in only top tier drinks & pastries and really quick service. Customers at Mystyx are cool it attract a younger crowd ages up 16 – 42, they’re as cool as when I use to work at Kreation. Tierra Mia & Starbucks attracts families which is more like for an older crowd, it’s vanilla.

What sets us apart is that no one will do what we did to get to where we are at now. You won’t see many ppl do what we did. But that’s ok, it’s really hard, and I wouldn’t recommend it unless your serious about it. Sky is the limit. I started pushing my cart to the sidewalk, I had to learn plumbing, electrical, and other construction type of work. We slept in the sidewalk and waited for a customer to say hello. We sacrificed 7 days a week. We are kind of the pioneers of a mobile coffee cart with only $500 bux we started a business. we are Mystyx from LA.

What is it that I’m proud of? I sacrificed everything i have and this keeps me out of trouble. It keeps me busy, i love the hustle. I get to say I serve the city of Los Angeles. I get to say I have a coffee shop. How many ppl can say that?

What’s next?
Im going to continue the coffee cart, and run the coffee shop at the same time. Right now we’re just working at the sidewalk until we open up shop. Shop will open later this month or next month on 2308 e first street. Changes? this whole time we worked only espresso. And now we are working on tea. Baristas learn something new every so often
