Meet Joseph Rivera of DJ MOJOE in The Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Rivera.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
“Saving the City, One Party at a Time” is my slogan, and its history started when I first started out as a DJ.

I discovered the fun possibilities of mixing music in 2009. Not only did I love it, it was a skill and interest that I wanted to be involved in as much as I could. As most DJs, I began my DJ journey doing parties for friends and family and did my best to promote myself about my services and what I do. Through word-of-mouth, work started to pick up as people were asking for my availability for their parties. In particular, they were calling me because their DJ had canceled on them the day of or a few days before their event and no longer had someone to provide the music. What happened to the clients was unacceptable and this upsets me. Not only was the trust relationship between the client and DJ broken, it’s a stressful experience that no one should have to go through, especially on their important day! Rest assured, I was available for their event and provided my DJ services with my best foot forward. This occurrence happened several times, and I was the one who saved their parties from a musicless disaster. These beginning stages of my DJ career has built my focus which I continually strive for — professionalism. Professionalism in customer service, professionalism in talent, and professionalism in business are values that have shaped me into the person I am today, DJ MOJOE — Saving the City, One Party at a Time.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The path to where I am today wasn’t a smooth road. Becoming a DJ may be easy to some, but to be a great DJ takes time, dedication, and work to create an amazing experience for his or her audience. Throughout the years, I’ve had to learn skills in the performance, creativity, and technical aspects of DJing. I believe that a continual desire to learn and grow will not only help you overcome struggles, but will also create a better service for others along the way. The road may not be smooth, but the journey is worth it.
