Meet The Electric West

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Electric West.

Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The Electric West started in 2013 with founding members Lee Lewallen and Byron Pagdilao. After a series of small tours, member changes, and two EP’s, we solidified the lineup and sound to what it is today. I started off as the band’s producer and recording engineer in 2014 and later joined the band on guitar in the summer of 2017. After everything “settled in”, we began writing our first full-length record. “No Prēyers” was officially released in Fall of 2018. Ever since then, we’ve just been playing shows and touring through this album cycle, trying our best to get the music heard and have fun doing it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Well, like I sort of touched on earlier, we’ve gone through member changes. Some smooth, others not so smooth. But each member change has been tough in its own way because everyone leaves their stamp on the band. For me personally, it’s hard to beat what past guitar players have added to this project. Everyone that has had a platform in this band has added their own flavor. So being the “new guy” (coming from a hardcore/metal background) has been an adjustment. Trying to maintain our sound while not being scared to experiment and grow as a band.

Please tell us about The Electric West.
We all love dark, ambient music. Moody post-punk is our thing. But we also love poppy, dance music. And putting a smile on peoples faces. Not taking ourselves too seriously. So I guess if we’re known for anything, it’s as simple as that. Being professional, but not forgetting to have fun!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
We have to give a huge shoutout to our loyal fans and close friends. Without the support of our local family, this band would be nothing! Also, every band we’ve played with has had a big impact on our drive and motivation.
