Meet Josefine Hallen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josefine Hallen.

Josefine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Music has always been a big part of my family. As a child, I would wake up to my mother playing Norah Jones in the house speakers and my father blasting Robbie Williams in the car on our way to activities. I grew up studying music at Stockholms Choir School in Sweden and a music-focused high school, Rytmus (where also Tove Lo & Icona Pop went).

Growing up with music from musicians outside of Sweden I had always wanted to venture away from Europe to test my chances in music in the US. I was accepted to Berklee College of Music and didn’t hesitate to pack my bags and move alone across the globe at 19 years old. That’s when it all started…

Past graduation I started my own company to test my wings in music and it started growing slowly but steady with everything from being included in a featured film to singing background vocals on albums like Michael Bublé, John Legend and Kerry Underwood. The road has not been easy but I am very happy I took a chance on myself to follow my desire to work in music.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! I don’t hear about any stories where the journey to reach dreams have been easy, nor was mine. Along the way to where I am today, I have hit a lot of speed bumps and people who are trying to use you. The unfortunate truth is that it’s a part of life, you have to learn how to deal with it/them and find your own voice along the way and make sure you don’t make the same mistakes again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer/songwriter and business owner. I am most proud of taking the chance on myself and never giving up despite all the hurdles I have faced so far in my very young career.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Always trust your intuition!
