Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Ramirez.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up I wanted to be a doctor or a cop, your typical “What do you want to be when you grow up” answer. As I got older and finished High School I decided to join the Air Force where I wanted to be part of something great, I got to serve my country, travel and have the opportunity to use the GI Bill for college. After 4 years of service I decided to go to school and got an Associate’s Degree in Drafting & Design and a Bachelors in Project Management. While at school as I was getting my associates degree I meet Andrew Weissman who was the owner of ConstructionPhotoDocs , a firm that created photographic as-built for the construction industry. That’s where I got to use my first camera which was a Nikon D-90. As I continued to work for the company my skills and passion for photography grew, I started focusing on architectural photography, aerial photography, headshots and pretty much anything I could photograph. After 6 years of working with Andrew and ConstructionPhotoDocs I made one of the hardest decision which was to start my own photography business which became ArchLenz Photography. I was very fortunate to have built great business relationships over the years which have allowed me to continue doing what I love. I know it’s a cliché, but I don’t feel like I go to work because of the love I have for what I do.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Becoming a business owner is never a smooth road, many obstacles along the way. One of the biggest I think is having steady income when you first start. Unlike your regular 9-5 job you are the owner, sales rep, marketing, finance and everything in between. I’ve been very fortunate to have friends who are business owners and have guided me in the right direction from the beginning. Can’t thank them enough. I’m sure there will be many more obstacles along the road but nothing that can’t be handled.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I think I was pretty talkative and approached anyone I thought was of interest,, I think because of the way my parents raised me I’ve always been kind to others, I was though to treat others like I would wanna be treated which is with respect. I loved playing with my friends in our neighborhood with my bicycle, rollerblades, skateboard, pretty much like any other kid on the 90’s. I really enjoyed drawing when I was younger and I would sometimes draw characters from popular cartoons or comic books. While in elementary I entered many drawing contests and won a few, the biggest was when I got to meet the Mayor of Los Angeles Richard Riordan who personally presented my award. Pretty cool! I love anything that has to do with computers and software, that’s where the future is, I can take a computer apart and put it back together with no problem. I’m in the process of learning programming, I have a lot of cool app ideas that I would like to share with the world.
