Meet Jason Arias

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Arias.

Jason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been around music my whole life but never thought about being a recording artist until my best friend Ricardo Orozco mentioned it while having dinner in LA about five years ago. He knew I had some music already Made but not doing anything with it, so he convinced me to release it. He connected me with Marcos Navarro from Calmex Music Group and released my first EP “The Sixth Year.”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I had released an Ep and my debut album under Calmex Music Group. I decided after my debut album “Contact” that I’d start releasing music independently. It was a scary thing handling this on my own. Not only was I recording the music, but now handling the production of the album, to the art and promotion and so on. The one thing I never touched was the mix and mastering of the album but I was there at every session with Alan Serrano. It’s a lot to handle alone but worth it in the end. Seeing it from start to finish is a beautiful thing.

Tell us about your work – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition? You these last few albums have been more of a therapeutic experience for me especially recording “Quietude.” I was dealing with depression and at one point, even wanted to commit suicide. There is an emotional connection to the music that has helped me cope with what I deal with mentally and it’s a beautiful thing when people message me about how the music has helped them, or how it makes them feel. Even though I created something out of something so negative, it has a positive effect. But there were some pieces that were created out of joy and happiness so not all of the music has that black foundation.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
If I’ve been able to take a listener on a journey for 20-30 mins and able to create a peaceful environment than I’ve done my job successfully, no amount of likes, followers, or money can top that feeling.
