Meet Jasmyn Destine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmyn Destine.

Hi Jasmyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started filming YouTube videos six years ago back in NYC where I’m originally from. I was enrolled in film school in NYC and started to develop a love for beauty and wanting to teach others. I dropped out of film school to fully pursue a makeup career working with MAC cosmetics and my growing YouTube channel. My YouTube videos consisted of How-To makeup and hair tutorials and over the course of six years grew to what it is today. With the growth of my channel, I also developed an amazing support system on my social media platforms that I don’t consider “fans” but more like family! I call them my tribe because I feel like I have the most supportive and loving followers ever. Within the last year of this pandemic, I went viral on Tik Tok, Instagram, & YouTube generating millions of views online. It was the sign I needed to decide to move to LA because it was something I always wanted to do. So mid pandemic, I moved to LA and fell in love with this city! I now am a full-time social media influencer and content creator. My content consist of beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content on all of my social platforms!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has its ups and downs when it comes to working for yourself. I think the hardest thing is to stay motivated in such a saturated field and to remain consistent. I think that was one of my biggest struggles because it was hard to fully indulge in an industry that requires you to start from scratch and find your niche. You literally have to work for every single follower and for them to stay engaged and interested in you. There’s no real answer as to how one does it because everyone’s journey and story is different. But I’m definitely learning everyday that it’s a forever-changing industry and you have to learn to adapt.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a social media influencer that specializes in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content on YouTube, Instagram, and more recently Tik Tok! I’m known for a lot of different things across my social platforms and thats because I wear a lot of different creative hats. I’ve always been an artist first (specifically fine art), I used to paint and draw throughout my school career. And I feel like that definitely transitioned into my love for makeup. A lot of my makeup content on Instagram is very creative and colorful and shares my love for Nicki Minaj. And in discovering makeup I also discovered my love for hair. I have a lot of content on YouTube of me doing several different hairstyles and teaching others how to achieve them too.

Within the last year or so I started weekly vlogging my day to day life and people really found it interesting. I developed a love for vlogging a very long time ago but it was something I didn’t do often because I wasn’t completely comfortable with it. But I decided to not let my fear hold me back and I fully indulged in vlogging and haven’t looked back since! I’ve now developed over 75,000 subscribers that tune in weekly for my content and I couldn’t be happier. I think what sets me apart is that everything I do, I try to show others that if I can do it, you can too! I am just a regular girl from Brooklyn that comes from a single parent home and all that I’ve accomplished is because I stopped doubting myself and my abilities and manifested the life that I want. I feel like I’m walking in my truth and it shows to all the people that watch me all over the world. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve touched so many people all over and I did it by being myself.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I wish I knew not to stress not having the same things other people had and just focused on staying true to me and why I started in the first place. I also want to remind people that we must celebrate our small goals and things that are achieved along our journey to the top. Stop and smell the roses because we owe that much to ourselves!
