Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Mendez.

Hi Isabel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I believe God puts certain desires in our hearts for a reason. For me, entrepreneurship began with a feeling that I wanted to build something of my own, to use my creativity, discover what I was capable of, and create a life that felt connected to my purpose. I come from a family of entrepreneurs, and as a young single mother of two daughters, that desire took on even more meaning. I wanted to see what I could accomplish while building a life that let me provide for my girls, be present for their milestones, and enjoy our time together. I didn’t have every step figured out, but I had faith, ambition, and a reason to keep going. That journey began with Mirror Touch Photo Booth and grew to include SCULPT by IZ, a fitness and wellness spa in Redondo Beach, Sculpt Academy, and Izion AI, a marketing agency. My name is Isabel Mendez, and my businesses are based in Redondo Beach.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was learning how to keep moving when I didn’t know exactly what to do next. There were moments when I had the vision, but not yet the knowledge to bring it to life, and that gap can make you feel stuck. I had to change how I understood failure, to ask, ‘What is this teaching me, and what can I do differently?’ Sometimes that meant changing my approach, taking a class, asking for help, or trying again. Confidence came through repetition. I also learned how important visibility is. You can care deeply about your work and still need people to be able to find you. That meant learning marketing, staying consistent, and paying attention to what was actually working. Through it all, I leaned on prayer. Prayer helped quiet the chaos in my mind and gave me space to find direction. It didn’t remove the work, but it helped me approach it with more peace.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My work has grown into four businesses based in Redondo Beach: Mirror Touch Photo Booth, SCULPT by IZ, a fitness and wellness spa, Sculpt Academy, and Izion AI, a marketing agency. With Mirror Touch, we bring together interactive photo experiences, graphic design, and branded event marketing, and we’ve worked with clients and events including Apple TV, TikTok, EDC, and other major brands. At SCULPT by IZ, a fitness and wellness spa, I applied what I learned about marketing and service to build a thriving spa. Through Sculpt Academy, I teach both body sculpting treatment skills and the business knowledge students need to put them to work. And Izion AI grew from seeing how much a strong online presence could do. We specialize in interactive website design, SEO, landing pages, and AI-powered tools. What connects everything I do is that I remember being the person starting from scratch, learning through trial and error, and figuring out how to make an idea work. What I’m most proud of is the life these businesses have allowed me to build. Buying a home on my own in California, taking my daughters on vacations, and creating more freedom in my schedule. Success to me is being able to enjoy time with my family while doing work that gives me purpose, and helping someone else move closer to that possibility too.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice is to find someone who’s already built what you’re working toward. Look for a mentor with experience and strong foundations, whose values align with yours. Investing in marketing education and growth classes has made a real difference for me when I put those lessons into practice. Through Sculpt Academy and Izion AI, I now get to share that guidance and support others who are building something of their own.
