Meet Imani Baptiste-Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Imani Baptiste-Green.

Imani Baptiste-Green

Hi Imani, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey! My name is Imani, and I am a Model and Creative based in Los Angeles, CA. I am originally from New York City and moved to LA about five years ago to pursue my dreams of completing school at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. I got into the creative and fashion field due to some hardships that I was going through in the past. I had a lot of self-work to do and mental health issues to deal with at the time, and something sparked in me that made me feel as though I could potentially embrace myself more in a form of art. This, of course, then lead me to who I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say that it’s been a smooth road, but there have been smooth parts. Life is like a rollercoaster, and there have been many ups and downs that have helped shape me into who I am. My struggles along the way have included dealing with an Eating Disorder and Depression, as well as feeling self-doubt sometimes. These issues affected me at different points in my life, but like I said before, they shaped who I am today. As a creative, when I don’t see the light, everything just dims out and seems pointless. Going through the specifics of what I was going through was hard because you don’t often see the light. My loved ones helped me get through this, as well as a lot of self-reflection on my part. Of course, nothing is perfect, but taking it day by day and learning new ways to believe myself is what it takes!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work as a Model and Social Media Specialist, where I dive into content creation, social strategy, branding, creative directing, and more. I’ve been modeling for around 3 years and had amazing collaborations with brands like Sprayground, EM Cosmetics, Spencers x Playboy, Canva, Killstar, DisneyStyle, and others. Modeling excites me because it pushes me beyond my comfort zone, helps me understand my body better, and encourages me to embrace my imperfections.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
My advice for beginners is to be authentic and have confidence in yourself! When you set your mind to something, it’s within your reach, but you must embrace that mindset first.
