Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Jeanette.
Heather, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
While recording my first EP in Virginia Beach, Va, I met mixing engineer, Serban Ghenea (credits: Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia like and more) and signed a publishing deal with him.
I started writing and producing for other artists such as Selena Gomez, Kelly Clarkson, JoJo Siwa, and Jason Derulo. Now I’m working on my own art project as well as continuing to write for other artists and film/tv projects.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been lots of obstacles and challenges. Creating life in music is a very hard dream to accomplish and quite the rollercoaster ride, but I’m grateful to be where I am.
There is a lot of work that never sees the light of day and so many times you think you have a cut on an album or even a single and it falls through.
There is also lots of competition, and everyone has an opinion. In the end, you have to find your voice, trust yourself and be your own champion even when no one believes in you.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m a multi-platinum pop/country singer/songwriter/producer with credits on Selena Gomez, JoJo Siwa, Jason Derulo, Kelly Clarkson and more.
I’m proud to be representing females in music production because according to a USC Annenberg study, there are only about 2% of females in popular music production.
My latest single released February 1, was 100% produced, wrote and recorded by me, which will give a more personal experience to my fans.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have stopped listening to everyone’s opinions on what I should sound like and trusted my gut sooner.
