Meet Harriet Wien of Harriet and the Star in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harriet Wien.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well I’ve been interested in magic since I was a child I mean that is the time when you watch Disney movies and become obsessed with magic wands and pixie dust, but it was more than that. I think children can see magic and have strong access to spirit. I can’t say that I’m any more gifted than any other reader or witch because the truth is magic is the same, it is through my prism that makes my magic different but not better. The devotion to your practice is what makes you better I suppose. My practice began early. I still have Grimoire’s (that’s a book of spells) that I made at six years old, they’re pretty cute. My mom is a witch who taught me manifestation through mind control and ritual early on. She bought me my first tarot deck when I was like 11 years old I’d say, and always embraced and supported my interest in the occult.

I loved and I would say I practiced and studied tarot and witchcraft as a hobby but I never in a million years thought I’d be a reader for a living, but it just sort of snowballed and happened. I was doing hair and because I was so close and touching peoples heads I’d start giving them messages and they’d come back two months later and be like “I need my roots done, and holy crap everything you said happened!” They told their friends and then it snowballed into my full-time gig. I decided about five years ago that I didn’t really like doing hair anymore (because it’s so physical and kind of a big responsibility) and instead loved connecting with people through spirit. What a gift to be able to do what I do and connect with such cool people and their even cooler angels and guides!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life is never a smooth road, the sooner I embraced that the sooner success became easier. Success is just doing something that feeds your heart thereby overflowing into the rest of your life. In my opinion-success means different things to different people. Part of the traditions that I follow state that struggle and success are opposite poles of the identical thing. Angels don’t know the difference between success and failure, only people do. The guides laugh at us. It’s the time when I struggled are the times when the goddess herself stood at my shoulders opening the way for me.

The thing about this line of work is that I never tried I just listened and walked the path in front of me. The struggle I guess is always with myself at the end of the day because I run my own business. I’m the only one responsible and that ownership of self is something that I think I will always be working through, not just with work but with relationships and life just like everybody else.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Harriet and the Star – what should we know?
My business is where I offer my gifts to the public. My services include readings, energy healings, spellwork and dressing custom magic candles blessed and steeped with the client’s particular intention. I also teach classes around LA on meditation, creating your own personal spiritual practice, fundamentals of witchcraft and how to read tarot cards. The classes are probably the most gratifying part of my business because a personal transformation happens as students learn right before my eyes. Once people recognize and harness their own inherent power, which vibrates with everything around them, they cease being a victim to their circumstance and become the creator of their existence. It’s just the most magical thing! You don’t have to be a shaman or a priest or an avatar you can just be you and that is “magic.”

I would say right now I’m known for my readings and that is my most popular service because it can be done in person or remotely over the phone and they are sharply accurate and immensely healing.

I feel very proud if I can bring forth a message that sparks a shift in the querents emotional, physical, or spiritual world.

What sets me apart from others is that I’m Harriet, I’m funny and kind and warm and loving and easy on the eyes! This work makes me feel proud and unashamed to be me in all my shimmering glory! That’s what the name of my business is about Harriet and the Star. The star is an external force of beauty and light that when brought down and circulated through, can nourish my self and the world around me.

Well I’m very blessed my parents and family are hugely supportive of anything I do and I have been blessed with their unconditional love in this life. I did have the honor and privilege to study under the private tutelage of Naha Armady of 22 teachings, a well-known occultist and Kabbalist right here in LA who really changed the course of my practice. I also worked for House of Intuition the famous metaphysical shops with a bunch of locations in LA who played a big role in my success and always supported me and believed in my gifts I have so much love for them.
