Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Quintana.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I commissioned as an Air Force Intelligence Officer after graduating from college. I knew I would be traveling around the world so I gifted myself with a nice camera to document my travels. Originally, I began taking photos of landscapes, architecture, sunsets, food, etc. but I quickly discovered my passion for portrait photography. I loved the idea of capturing an image of a complete stranger and being able to tell their story without ever hearing it. Friends and acquaintances started coming to me to shoot their engagement and wedding photos and that’s where my love for wedding photography began. After five years in the military, I decided it was time to do something for me and that’s when I left my Air Force career to pursue my passions and curiosity for photography. After separating from the military, I was able to knock out my master’s in marketing and am now working as a full-time business owner.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely wasn’t a smooth road for me. For the longest time, I struggled with whether I wanted to pursue photography or not. It was always a passion of mine but the field I was transferring from didn’t exactly translate too well. I battled frequently with fear and self-doubt. I feared I would be entering into the photography industry too late in the game and that my five years of experience in the intelligence community would be completely wasted. I doubted I had the confidence to pave my way through such a competitive industry nor did I think I had the moxxy to rebuild myself with this new identity as a photographer. I was able to overcome these challenges by coming to the realization that life is too short, so you got to fully and whole-heartedly live it.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hannah Q. Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a photographer that specializes in lifestyle and wedding photography. What I love most about my business is that it hardly ever feels like a business at all. I am obsessed with meeting people, hearing their love stories, and being able to curate images that tell their story just the way I see and feel it. I love sharing my images to inspire people to feel and thrive from love, romance, and happiness–all the feelings that make life worth living. I think what sets me apart from others in the industry is that I’m able to extend my passion beyond just the craft itself. I place a lot of focus on the connection I have with my clients. I do everything in my power to understand them so that the work I create is authentic to who they are. I’m also a pretty assertive person and will be sure to give my clients constant feedback to create the most optimal images.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I love sharing with others what I learned or continue to learn along the way. I’ll always be a wedding photographer for as long as I am physically able, but eventually, I’d love to focus on teaching and inspiring others to become better photographers, better creatives, and better self-marketers.
