Meet Gidget Zapata of Flower Power

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gidget Zapata.

Hi Gidget, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was driving out in the country and there was a train car and I just got a vision of hobo bouquets.

Having had done flowers before it seemed like the thing to do with the fact that I was having to change paths due to a life changing situation.

I was out near Summerville. There’s a train that comes out there. And it was all about the hobo bouquets. They were all hanging out there and I could feel they needed bouquets. All hobos have bouquets popping out of their hats.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, it’s not all roses and ranunculus. There are good days, really good days and not so good days, but that’s what goes along with being your own boss. We’ve had some struggles with the fires and the road construction but I’ve been in Topanga for so long and my community is so amazing that even through struggles the survival is real and my community couldn’t be more community. I am beyond grateful to be an entrepreneur and live my dream here In Topanga Canyon.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
A typical day is to rise early before the sun, and drive north to the flower farms. I work with four or five different farmers, mostly organic and environmentally conscious. I source the best flowers for my customers,

Upon entering the shop, it’s a vibe. The music playing, the smells, the visual is a kaleidoscope of whimsical gifts that brighten the soul and capture the heart. Its like Bob Dylan reading Alice in Wonderland.

I create bouquets that bring joy to all walks of life. I love it and my customers love receiving them. It’s a language of love.
