Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriela Rosés.
Hi Gabriela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey has always been about merging craftsmanship, storytelling, and technology. After years of working in the film industry, I discovered how much I enjoy weaving together different disciplines and collaborating with artists and artisans from around the world. That experience, along with my background in design and fashion, shaped my vision for House of Nos.
In 2023, I co-founded House of Nos with my partner Mauro P. Casarino as a space where fashion and cinema converge, where tradition meets the future. I’ve always believed in the power of craftsmanship and the magic that happens when it is combined with innovative techniques. At House of Nos, we explore new ways of creating bespoke, personalized couture that celebrates individuality and pushes the boundaries of design.
Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. Even though I lead the creative process, I’m supported by an incredible team that brings my ideas to life. I’ve learned that creativity thrives within a community, and I strive to infuse that spirit into every project. House of Nos is not just a brand—it’s a reflection of my passion for storytelling, innovation, craftsmanship, and meaningful connections.
Looking ahead, my goal is to grow House of Nos into a cultural force, expanding into new markets. Ultimately, I see House of Nos as more than just a fashion label. It’s a platform where art and technology meet, where creativity knows no boundaries, and where we explore what’s possible when we dare to imagine new worlds.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is finding skilled couturiers and tailors. Unfortunately, sewing and garment-making have become less common interests, and it’s increasingly difficult to find artisans with the expertise required for the level of craftsmanship we aim for. Keeping this tradition alive is something I care deeply about, but it requires continuous effort and dedication.
Another challenge has been navigating marketing in a world dominated by constantly shifting social media algorithms. Staying visible and relevant online while communicating our brand’s essence is an ongoing task, especially with the rapid changes in digital platforms.
Additionally, working remotely with clients from all over the world on custom, measurement-based pieces presents its own complexities. Each garment must be carefully tailored to fit perfectly, despite the distance. This requires precise communication, seamless coordination, and trust in the process to deliver couture-level results without being physically present.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work as creative director of House of Nos revolves around the art of creating bespoke couture pieces that tell a story. Every garment is made with precision and care, designed to reflect the personality and individuality of the wearer. It’s not just about the clothes—it’s about crafting an experience and building a connection between the piece and the person.
At House of Nos, I oversee every aspect of the creative process, from the initial concept to the final fitting. I work closely with artisans and collaborators to ensure that every detail aligns with our vision. Each collection is a journey where tradition meets innovation, blending craftsmanship with forward-thinking techniques to push the boundaries of design.
Working with clients remotely is also a key part of what we do. I design personalized pieces for people all over the world, tailoring every garment to fit their measurements and preferences. It’s a delicate balance—creating couture without being physically present—but it’s incredibly rewarding to see how these pieces come to life across different cultures and places.
For me, fashion is a way of expressing identity, storytelling, and building connections. I believe my work lies at the intersection of these elements, creating garments that not only look beautiful but also carry meaning and intention.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
For me, the most essential quality is attention to detail. In couture, every stitch matters, and precision is non-negotiable. It’s about more than just creating a garment—it’s about crafting a piece that reflects artistry, individuality, and care.
Another key quality is adaptability. In an industry that’s constantly evolving—whether through new technologies, shifting trends, or changes in client expectations—being open to learning and adjusting is crucial.
Patience and perseverance are also vital. Creating bespoke pieces takes time, from perfecting the design to fitting the final garment. There are many steps involved, and it’s important to remain committed to the process, even when things don’t go as planned.
Lastly, collaboration and communication play a huge role in what I do. Whether it’s working with my team, clients, or artisans, being able to listen, share ideas, and align visions is essential to achieving the best results.
