Meet Ethan Smith of Toledo, Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Smith.

Hi Ethan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up watching movies and wanting to be in them. I wanted to be an actor after i graduated high school and didn’t know how to start. My dad got me a life coach and he helped me find a school. I researched and found the Motion Picture Institute. They didn’t have acting, but i wanted to learn about being behind the camera before being in front of it. I was a part of some short films, both behind the camera and in front, and learned a lot of things about film. I now live in Toledo, Ohio and am looking for work.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My biggest struggle is trying to find a side job to keep my apartment. Finding a job that is open to you taking time off to do film work is a real struggle.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I still want to be an actor, but i do love any part of film making. I would have to say that i specialize in acting and I’m proud of my acting work in the short films I’ve been in. people tell me I have a unique look and I feel like I can get along with anyone.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love reading books, because it helps strengthen my imagination more than anything. I feel like video games and movies, sometimes, take the imagination out of our brain when we get older. We feel like we have to work less to see a vision when it is already in front of our eyes. When you read i book it’s just you, words, and your imagination.
