Today we’d like to introduce you to Esther Levy-Bremer.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Early in my life, I was part of the international fencing team of Israel and, as a result of intensive daily training, by the time I was nineteen I suffered from extensive muscles and tendons injuries that debilitated my ability to move freely and to perform simple day-to-day tasks.
As most people, I was referred to different medical physicians with different specialties, going back and forth for 5 years. But invariably, I got the same reply, “Sorry, I am not sure why you are experiencing pain, but if you want, I can prescribe anti-inflammatory pills. These may damage your liver and kidneys as a side effect, but this is all that I can do for you.”
Unsatisfied with my doctors’ answers, I continued searching for a better solution, which led me to discover acupuncture, and after 2-3 weeks of treatments I began feeling significantly better.
Later that year, I started researching everything I could find about acupuncture. I wanted to know what this magical healing method was, which I knew nothing about just a few weeks before, and why I was feeling so much better after only a few treatments.
Since my own healing process began, I have become fully invested in helping other people with their pains and illnesses. I am inspired by my patients and their ability to heal.
Today, I have been practicing acupuncture for 12 years, with more than 10 years of education in my field in Israel, China, and the United States, and 7 years of teaching traditional Chinese medicine in Jerusalem, Israel.
In 2009, with two partners, I founded “Connecting Point”, one of the first community acupuncture centers in Israel.
Since many people are unable to afford acupuncture treatments, and health insurance doesn’t cover acupuncture for everyone, we decided to model our treatment methods as typically done in China, where many clinics are community style and patients sit in a common, shared space, and are treated one after another, allowing the practitioner to see more patients per hour. This allowed us to reduce the price of treatments by 60-70%, making it affordable for everyone to receive treatments and feel better.
I have had the privilege of treating hundreds of people, from all over the world, and from all walks of life.
Since then, my partners and I trained over 20 young practitioners to open similar community style treatment centers across the country to help our community lead healthier lives.
Has it been a smooth road?
In 2014, I married a wonderful man and moved to Los Angeles. Professionally, the move was challenging, as I had to build my practice again, in a new city where no one knows who I am, in a new language, working with insurance companies, different tax rules, and a hundred other little challenges.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with EsTherapy Acupuncture – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My main and most favorite healing method at my clinic is acupuncture. Most of my cases are focused on either pain management or internal medicine (digestive disorders, respiratory system disorders such as asthma and allergies, cardiovascular issues, women’s health and infertility, pediatrics, and skin rejuvenation and wrinkle treatments.
As a company, I love treating my patients with success and integrity. I love customizing a treatment plan for each and every one of my patients, and then later watching them complete a treatment plan feeling good.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the variety. Much like where I am from- Jerusalem, Los Angeles is a very cosmopolitan city. In LA, I get to meet people from all over the world, this makes everything more interesting and fun- colors, flavours, music- every neighbourhood has its own energy. I love it.
