Today we’d like to introduce you to Erinn Valencich.
Erinn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
“I have always loved homes and interiors… and grew up in a very creative family full of architecture, new construction, fine cabinetry and painters. But I actually fell into the field myself a bit by accident. I guess you can say it’s in my blood and therefore was destined. A friend suggested me to someone as a designer, and it all started from there.”
“I built a Barbie sofa out of scrap wood when I was 8 years old in my grandfather’s wood shop. I wasn’t the kid making the birdhouse, it was a wooden sofa! So from there, it was natural for me to start making pieces for clients. Understanding how things are made really helped this passion grow. I began building and designing about 80% of what we put into our client’s homes quite early on in my career. That is the beginning of the furniture collection. We started making pieces for other designers and it all took off from there.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is never a smooth road when you’re pushing into new territories. I have had my ups and downs in business for sure, and always a new layer of challenge to get to the next level, but I enjoy the process and always strive to learn, grow and get better at whatever it is that’s on the way to progress.
Erinn V. Design Group – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have a luxury interior design firm. We have built new homes that have been featured in Architectural Digest, and do a lot of renovations and remodels. We also do smaller projects of just a few rooms for clients all over the country. We work in San Francisco, New York, Greenwich, Dallas, Aspen and even Cabo! Our work is on ErinnVDesignGroup.com.
My furniture line is sold through design center showrooms to the trade and handcrafted in California. We have an 80-piece collection which you can see on ErinnV.com.
I have a collection with Baldwin Hardware called Hollywood Hills. We also have a line of rugs that just launched and pillows with Creative Touch and a lighting collection in the works with Fine Art Lamps. In addition to this, I have a tech startup for designers and architects to source luxury furnishings called StyleRow that is launching this fall.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I can’t say there was just one moment, but probably when I opened my 5000 sf showroom, Erinn V, on Robertson.
That was a big accomplishment and it was amazing to see my name up on the awning! We had a grand opening with 450 people in attendance. It was quite a special time.
