Today we’d like to introduce you to Ericka Peralta.
Hi Ericka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started doing freelance makeup about 11 years ago. I focused on soft glam bridal makeup, but I’ve always had a special love for colorful yet tasteful eyeshadow looks. Makeup was my escape, and I was completely fixated on YouTube tutorials during the era of makeup gurus. I’ll never forget watching a video by Eve Pearl, who said something that stuck with me: “It only takes one person to believe in you.” I decided I would be that person for myself.
One day, my partner’s mom asked about my makeup business and whether I had ever considered esthetics. Something about that moment just made sense. I started doing research, felt an immediate connection to the field, and enrolled in school. Two months after graduating, I opened Ericka’s Beauty Boutique, where I offer beauty therapy in a judgment-free space.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many Filipinos, I felt pressured into nursing, but it never seemed right for me. I remember having coffee with my grandma one morning when she told me, “If nursing isn’t what you want to do, don’t do it. You have to do something you love so it doesn’t feel like work.” I spent much of my life being a people-pleaser, so choosing to carve my own path felt like my quiet act of rebellion.
As life moved on, I took on a few different jobs. Those experiences gave me perspective, but it was through caregiving and supporting patients at the chiropractor’s office that I truly discovered how much I loved helping others. Being part of someone’s healing journey and offering them comfort lit a spark in me. I realized I wanted to do work that felt both meaningful and creative.
Then, at 25, everything shifted. When I met my current partner, my relationships began to heal, I moved away from home, and for the first time, I was surrounded by love and genuine support. Instead of feeling stuck in an endless loop of anxiety and self-doubt, I felt like I could do anything. A part of me believes this union was always meant to find me, and I carry a deep sense of gratitude to my partner and his family for helping me see myself through kinder eyes.
Looking back now, I can see that I turned my dreams into reality—not all at once, but piece by piece. Finding myself meant letting go of the life I had known, even when it felt like I was crawling my way out. Change is uncomfortable, but it’s often the push we need to grow into the person we’re meant to become.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Ericka’s Beauty Boutique is a space for beauty therapy, without judgment. I specialize in beginner-friendly skincare and makeup services, with a gentle, educational approach that helps my clients feel seen, safe, and supported. Whether someone is just starting their skincare journey or wants to learn how to feel confident through makeup, I’m there to guide them every step of the way.
What sets me apart is the time I take to connect with each client beyond the surface. I don’t just focus on skin. I focus on the person behind it. I understand what it’s like to feel lost and unsure. That’s why I’ve created a space where people can be themselves while learning to care for their skin.
I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built with my clients. My brand isn’t about perfection. It’s about growth, grace, and healing. Whether someone is coming in for a facial, a makeup lesson, or simply needs a moment to reset, I want them to leave feeling better than when they arrived. That’s what Ericka’s Beauty Boutique is all about.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Self-trust is what started everything for me. When no one else seemed to see potential in me, I learned how to believe in myself. That mindset has carried me through every challenge. I’m also incredibly resilient and deeply empathetic. I’ve learned that real support begins by meeting people where they are, as they are. That’s exactly what I bring into my space at Ericka’s Beauty Boutique. It’s not just about beauty treatments. It’s about emotional safety and encouragement. I want my clients to feel acknowledged, understood, and empowered to care for themselves, even if they’re just beginning.
